May 11, 2014
NBC has renewed Parenthood for a sixth and final season. The critically-acclaimed drama has had a solid run since its premiere in 2010, drawing fairly consistent ratings and developing a loyal base of fans along the way.
The network has ordered 13 episodes to close out the show, and it will remain in its 10:00pm Thursday night time slot when it returns in the fall.
UPDATE: Season 6 of Parenthood premieres on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 10:00pm.

Yes, thank you NBC for allowing this show to finish properly. I agree with Pamela that the season finale did seem like a series finale. Enough that I would have been ok if it had not been renewed. But I am glad we get at least 13 more episodes. Too bad it can't go on forever but I like the fact that it will end on a high note. One of the best television programs there is out there, well written, well acted, and so very charming. I remember first I was a little disappointed in how different it was from the Steve Martin movie on which it was based, but I quickly grew to love this version of the Braverman saga. Dare I say it? I grew to love it even more than the movie. Poignant and thought-provoking. I will miss it, but am so glad we had 6 years together.

I am soooo happy to hear this. This is one of my favourite shows on TV and I always look forward to watching it every week. I'll take the 13 episodes for the writers to wrap up the story lines even though I want more! Ha ha.

I guess the fact season 6 is its last season isn't surprising. The season finale this last time had that series finale feel to it. I'm saddened at the prospect of this show ending though....it is one of my very favorites.

I too would like to thank NBC for renewing Parenthood even if it's just for 13 episodes .
Hopefully this will allow the writers to wrap up this quality show giving it the justice it deserves.
I will certainly miss it but can reconcile with the fact that I know I will be watching the series finale, and will no longer have to wait with bated breath to find out if it will be cancelled or renewed for another season. Kudos to NBC for doing the right thing!
I will miss the Bravermans - my perfect imperfect fictitious family, the wonderful actors and actresses who portrayed these wonderful characters and the great writing team.
Thanks for bringing such a quality show to TV.

Despite my frustration with all the cancellations, I still have to say Thank You to NBC for allowing the powers that be a partial season to wrap this show up. Parenthood is quirky, and I have loved it even though I kept waiting for it to be cancelled! Obviously having heavy hitters in your corner makes a huge difference for a show....
