The new drama will return for Season 2.
August 15, 2014
Starz announced today that Outlander has been renewed for a second season. The freshman drama got off to a strong start last week, with its premiere episode already surpassing 5 million views when factoring in multiplatform viewing. The show, which is filmed on location in Scotland, is adapted from Diana Gabaldon's International best-selling eight-book series.
Ronald D. Moore, who developed Outlander for television, said in a press release, "I'm thrilled at the prospect of doing another season of this show for STARZ. This project has been a labor of love from the very beginning and it's incredibly gratifying to see it succeed with viewers and critics alike."
Starz has ordered at least 13 episodes, with the potential for more, for Season 2. It will be based on events from the second book in the series, which is entitled "Dragonfly in Amber".

Seems like I waited forever for this movie. I love the actors I can see them in the parts. I have all 8 of the books and have most of books on CD also. I've listen to them at work, sure does make the day go by fast. Can't wait until the next season starts. It's a long time to wait!!!!

My husband and I are enjoying the series very much. The music is superb, the Gabaldon book adaptation is riveting, the cinematography is beautiful, and the acting is superb. We are an older couple who don't usually become enthralled to series television . . . but, we refused to miss an episode of this particular Starz programming. We anxiously await Season 2.

Having Scottish ancestry, going to Highland Games, my dad plays the bagpipes and being a Scottish Highland dancer myself it's exciting to see a show that has real Scottish accents and actors. Not to mention the music and Gaelic dialect! It's just Awesome and I can't wait for the next episode!! Hearing there's already a Season 2, Spectacular!

I watch this, but even never haven read the books, can already see where it is heading. I think it has potential but will of course get bogged down in the romantic nonsense. I hope I am wrong. I also am not impressed with the lead actress.

Have not read the books but I love this show! Glad that they've already renewed it for another season. Now at least I know I can get hooked and it won't be cancelled immediately like they do with so many other shows.
