The time-travel drama gets two more seasons.
June 1, 2016
Starz announced today that Outlander has been renewed for seasons 3 and 4. The sophomore drama, which is currently airing its second season, has proven to be a strong addition to the cable network's lineup. After its debut season averaged 5 million multi-platform viewers per episode, the show went on to receive three Golden Globe nominations, including one for Best Drama.
Filmed on location in Scotland, Outlander is adapted from Diana Gabaldon's International best-selling eight-book series. Seasons 3 and 4 will be based on the third and fourth books, respectively titled Voyager and Drums of Autumn.
No dates have been announced for Outlander's next two seasons, though a mid-2017 return appears likely for Season 3.

It IS a "fluffy romance" -- don't believe anything else.

Excellent news! This series is easily one of my favorites. The production value and the acting is breathtaking and deserves more recognition. I hope people don't go into this expecting some fluffy romance because that couldn't be further from the truth (they be in for quite a surprise). There is some pretty hard scenes throughout the series which I think are handle very well. Overall this is a show not to be missed!

An incredible show. It does require you to watch Season One though. A lavish presentation with superb acting. Congratulations to all involved.

I completely agree with Linda on this one that about sums up what I was trying to say in less words.

This is Great News!!
All of y'all saying this is "lonely housewife theater" and "fluffy period romance" are so wrong! The show has a very intricate story that ties together Clare's past/time travels with Jamie and the events in current time and also the books are the same way and extremely wonderful at telling the story. I'm also a guy so y'all also need to quit gender stereotyping everything, yes this is mainly aimed towards a female audience but a male can get the same amount of enjoyment

Muse: Claire Randall starts out in 1945 and ends up in the past in Scotland. If that isn't time travel, I don't know what is. And fluffy period romance! It is a character driven epic love story. Have you even watched it?

Outlander isn't a time-travel drama. It's a fluffy period romance.
