A&E has cancelled Longmire after three seasons on the air. Premiering in 2012, the crime drama went on to become the cable network's most-watched original drama ever, amassing a sizable and loyal fanbase.
While its third-season ratings were down from previous years, it is not clear if that was the reason for the show's cancellation. It is being reported that its production company, Warner Horizon, will be shopping the series to other networks.

I only watched season 1. wasnt my kind of show, but it was a good show. this is like the glades all over again...a&e is a bad channel for doing this to its viewers. Even worse than fox and abc put together. many ppl will be really upset by this, but i think it will be picked up, if nowhere else Netflix will snap it up

Wow that is a terrible loss for A&E! After what they are doing with Storage Wars and its spinoffs and Duck Dynasty going down in my opinion, all they have now is Bates Motel. I really loved and enjoyed this show, for its writing, story, and acting. They had a great cast and I really hope another network picks it up! I feel there is a lot more story to tell. We may never know if Branch got killed or not!! Wake up A&E!

WHAT?! You have that kind of a cliffhanger with that many subplots delivered with a level of quality entertainment that is hardly matched anymore, and these nit-wits at A&E cancel it? What happened - needed the time slot for another mindless reality show? Something like "Naked and Whatever" that just has stupid naked people doing stuff? Because absent Longmire, the options for quality programming are seriously limited.

Figures. I really enjoyed this last season. One of my favorite series too.
What's the point in watching anything anymore? Everything is DRV'd or watched later on On. Demand. Is there really a true viewership rating anymore? I mean, that's what they base it from.

I love this show! So sad to hear this. Hopefully another network will pick it up.
