Netflix announced today that it has revived Longmire, ordering a fourth season of the crime drama. It has been less than three months since the show's original network, A&E, cancelled the series, resulting in an outcry from its devoted fanbase.
Season 4 of Longmire will consist of 10 new episodes set to premiere in 2015 in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The story will pick up moments after the events of the Season 3 finale, which should be welcome news to fans left hanging after A&E dropped the show.

I love this show! Well done Netflix! As a Netflix subscriber I'm always casting my vote by viewing and Rating my favorite shows, 5 stars, and this is no exception! Of all the current networks, and I consider Netflix to be a contending network nowadays, it becomes painfully clear that whatever method most networks use to determine viewer interest it is painfully lacking. Netflix has the option by picking up past episodes to fairly rapidly detect the pulse of their views and add shows being dropped by other networks to their growing list of first class pickups and Longmire is no exception. Networks should realize that dropping a series at the end of a major cliffhanger is a sure fire way of losing viewer loyalty. In today's venue of mega-storylines ending a series on a cliffhanger is the worst sin of all. I despise it so much I will boycott and have no faith in any network that chooses to do so. Any series, no matter how lacking in loyal views always deserves to go out gracefully or risk the wrath of the viewer base no matter how large or small. Season four of Longmire had such an intense cliff hanger that exists purely based on viewer love of the main character. Tonight, after watching 3 episodes in a row because my wife and I just couldn't stop, I hit the last episode with a cry of outrage and an immediate visit to this sight on hopes of news of a Season 5. Please that season five is on the way, and mildly disappointed that I have several months to wait, I am contented mainly in knowing it's coming. Every day and in every way Netflix continually reinforces my loyalty with their intimate knowledge of my and my wife's eclectic tastes continuously surprising me with one show after another either being created or picked up. If Netflix would have existed back in the 60's Star Trek TOS would never have been cancelled! With an unrelated kudos Netflix... live long and prosper!

Aside from bring "culturally significant," this series is just plain good. Why did A&E decide to cancel it? Who knows!?!? Why do some people decide to commit murder? There's no rational explanation for it, and speculating on the reasons for an irrational act merely wastes time. Thanx Netflix!

I know I'll find a way to get the new episodes. Dial up won't handle Netflix but I'm sure to find someone to record it.

A&E dropped Longmire because it didn't attract the Demographic they want. Yup! Stupid People with no taste is what they want. This is how Networks lose the trust of their Viewers. So tired of investing time into good shows and have Networks just pull the Plug. This was the most watched Drama in A&E history and the just pull the plug. Someone said Star Crossed was a Great show? WTF? And a guy no less! C'mon. Longmire is Great while Star Crossed is a little girl soap opera! Gimme a break!

that's great Netflix is picking up Longmire but what about those who don't have Netflix? we're going to be locked out! They need to get rid of some of the shows that are aired and give us good tv!

Even though I've not watched much Longmire - I have to say it was/is a quality show and was dismayed to see A&E cancel it. I was a big fan of "The Glades" and am still shocked A&E thought so little of their viewers to cancel this without closure. I was thinking about spending more time with Longmire but truly feared I'd get "A&E'd" on that show too so avoided it. I was right - and now simply will not get sucked in by anything A&E puts out. ...And this is how a network makes itself irrelevant. Thanks Netflix - this is how a network makes itself relevant!
