The long-running drama will end in 2017.
November 2, 2016
Netflix announced today that Longmire has been renewed for one last season. The veteran crime drama will return next year for what will be its third season on the streaming service and sixth overall.
The much-loved series originally started out on cable network A&E back in 2012, where it aired for three seasons before being cancelled in 2014. The show's devoted fan base immediately cried foul - so loud that Netflix took notice and revived the series less than three months later.
Longmire fans who are subscribed to the streaming service have since enjoyed an additional two seasons, and will now get one final run that will give the show a chance to say goodbye with a proper conclusion.
Season 6 of Longmire will consist of another 10 episodes and is slated to premiere in 2017 in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Love this show. We subscribed to Netflix just to see it after it was cancelled by A&E. Sorry to see it end, but hoping they wrap it up nicely for all the characters
Love each character for their own special part of each episode

Everyone at work talks about this show, so I just binge watched all five seasons in the past month. I LOVE it and want many more seasons. I keep waiting for Henry Standing Bear to become a legend within the tribe, and for he and Cady to get married. Walt is such a great character - I can't wait for him to go before a jury. I'm concerned that they will show him to have been correct in his obsessive distrust of Nighthorse. I like Nighthorse and don't want this alpha character reduced to basing his actions on cheap political and criminal motives. Ferg is so under-rated, that it would be cool to see him become the next Sheriff.

The writing suffered last season, hopefully endgame will improve things, but this could have been the 21st Century Gunsmoke.
Too bad.

Good to see it getting a finale I personally hate this show and was surprised it got a full first season when good shows get cancelled

Thank you Netflix for picking this show up after A&E cancelled it. I love this show and it's characters. It will be missed after it's final season, but at least they will give it a finale' :)

Excellent news - sorry to see it end but I'm glad they will have a chance to wrap everything up. A big thank you to Netflix for keeping the show alive for 3 additional seasons and for giving them a chance to gracefully end the run.

A. Your right about the Longmire character last season. He was terrible especially towards Cady. I don't know what the writers were thinking.

Glad it's going to conclude properly. I haven't been a big fan, but my parents love the show and I typically am in the room while they watch it so I half watch it. I admit I don't pay attention to it fully but I have to say I found the character of Longmire pretty unlikable last season. Maybe that's just me though. I'm happy for the fans.
