HBO announced today that The Leftovers has been renewed for a third and final season. The drama recently concluded a sophomore run that saw it lose half its viewers from Season 1 despite garnering higher critical praise.
“It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome back Damon Lindelof, Tom Perrotta and the extraordinary talent behind The Leftovers for its third and final season,” said HBO programming president Michael Lombardo in a statement. “This show has proven to be one of the most distinctive HBO series and we are extremely proud of its unrivaled originality, which has resulted in such a passionate following by our HBO viewers. We admire and fully support Damon’s artistic vision and respect his decision to bring the show to its conclusion next season.”
Loo for Season 3 of The Leftovers to premiere in 2016.

The second season was so much better than the first (although obviously the first had to happen for the basis of the story) but it's just so intense and unpredictable, I absolutely love this show and am so happy it has got another season.

I think it would do allot better if there was a purpose, instead of everything being assumed, there was a time in the show where I thought okay there starting to put things together, with then telling her three is a theory on people disappearing, lime a host making it happen, then that's it no more talking about that, most people want things to be put together and not being more confused after each episode, that's why it lost half of there veiwers

@Jerry... The people in white have already stated what they represent, numerous times. I'm guessing you never paid full attention while watching the first two seasons.
The book that the first season is based on never answered any questions either, so the series is being quite faithful to the source.
The 2nd season follows on from where the book ends, so it is it's own beast. It doesn't give any answers RE: season 1, but that's really the point of this show....
It attempts to steer you in a few directions and lets you make your own mind up as to what "might" be happening... then it makes you think you were wrong!
Love it!

This show was great in s1 but lost me in s2. It didn't answer any questions, had dangling storylines and was just irritating. I STILL don't understand what the people in white are supposed to represent. I find them annoying and just want to slap them.
I won't return for s3.

Nice little run for this show. Kind of confusing at times but like some others said, the acting is great, Hope they tie it all together and give us a nice good ending next year.
