FX announced today that The Strain will be coming to an end next year. The cable network has renewed the vampire drama for a fourth and final season to air in the summer of 2017.
Currently halfway through its third season, The Strain has enjoyed a solid run on FX. From the beginning, its creators have always envisioned a limited run for the series, which is based on Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan's novel trilogy of the same name.

I wish the strain could go 7 seasons. I have been watching it from the beginning. It is the most terrifying show ever. Because I live in New York that it more scary. Next to The Walking Dead it's a great show. I wish the Strain could continue on like The Walking Dead. Please reconcider!!! It terrify's me and I Love It😨👹

The writers of Lost had 4 or 5 seasons to do a good wrap-up. They knew after the 2nd or 3rd season how many more seasons there would be. That is part of the reason the ending was so.... disappointing.

I wish this was at least 5 seasons long. Quite liked the cast and I can't wait to see where it concludes. I shall miss Fet! <3 hope he survives the finale.

It would've been a great summer series, it never needed more than 13 episodes per season, I'm glad they aren't going to beat it to death.

This turned out to be a VERY good show. It never really was intended to run this long but I am very happy it has and will be getting a proper last season.

I'm happy it's been renewed for one more season, but it's been kind of meandering in place for a while. I'm happy to see that an ending is in place and I'm excited to see where this series is going moving forward.

The Strain wasn't cancelled. The series was always intended to be between 3 and 5 seasons. It just happens that the creators and writers decided that they could end it after 4.
