Extra episodes ordered for the new comedy.
September 29, 2016
ABC has handed out an order for nine additional episodes of Speechless, making it the first new comedy of the fall to earn a full-season pickup. The show is two episodes into its run and off to a solid start, garnering a 2.0 rating among adults 18-49 for its premiere outing, and only dipping 10% for last night's second episode.
Speechless stars Minnie Driver as the mother of a wheelchair-bound special needs boy who moves with her family into a new home looking for a fresh start. Today's pickup gives the show a total of 22 episodes for its first season.

Will never understand how Minnie Driver is supposed to be a mom yet NONE of her children have even a HINT of an accent. Guess the child actors are as good with the British accent as Minnie is with American accents (which may be why she doesn't even try). Too early to tell on this show. It's okay... not hating it.. but so far, wouldn't be missing it if it disappeared.
