The comedy ends after three seasons.
May 10, 2019
Word is out that ABC has cancelled Speechless after its third season. The news comes a month after the comedy's most-recent finale, which will now act as its series-ender. Star Minnie Driver took to Twitter to express her sadness about the cancellation.
The half-hour series was a decent performer for the network for its first couple of seasons. A move to Friday in Season 3 saw its viewership drop considerably compared to the two years before.
Speechless stars Mini Driver as a devoted mother who puts her husband and three kids first, one of whom - her eldest child - has special needs. As she battles injustices, both real and perceived, the family looks for a fresh start after moving into their new home.

I liked this special show a lot since I have a "disability" of being legally blind. The word disability is in quotes because to me I don't think of myself as that and don't like the word but that's how society classifies me so...
I kind of figured it'd be cancelled since they moved it to Fridays; it seems like moving a show is almost always the writing on the wall for cancellation. Very sad to see Speechless go butt I really loved how they ended the series.

@kmew get over it... She sucks at acting and was horrible and over the top and both of her series got cancelled. Storylines were stupid and they portrayed themselves as pathetic losers using the system to get what she wanted. What does that teach people it's okay to be a rude obsessive mother who threatens the school if her poor disabled child didn't get what he wanted or the other 2 kids who were just as annoying. This show should have been cancelled after season 2.. 2 series and both couldn't compete hmmm MD sucks.
MY hurtful comments lmao I hope this hurts. Minnie take a nose dive and stay the hell off of TV

The writing was on the wall. I mean the last season ended at a point where any possible continuation would be a different show entirely.

I have several friends with special needs, and I loved this show for the great portrayal of a family. It is nice to end at a natural stopping place. Also, I hope the brilliant Minnie Driver has better things to do with her time than to see the needlessly hurtful comments of 'Gregg'.

This show was so needed in today's society, and was very special to me as my most cherished person, my brother, also has CP. My favorite part was Kenneth and his relationships with JJ and everyone. I loved that Cedric Yarbrough and Micah Fowler frequently enjoyed my tweets too. I will miss the show very much, this was the cancellation that hurt the most.

I'm really sorry to see this one go too. I wondered what they would do when J.J. went off to college (what happens to Kenneth?) so I'm not totally surprised, but still disappointed. I never missed an episode of this show! ABC, you're killing me!

As a person with a disability, I think this show was really special. I'm sad that it'll be gone.
