The CW drama signs off in 2017.

It is being reported that The CW has decided to end Reign after its upcoming fourth season. The news comes as little surprise, seeing as how the period drama has been one of the network's lower-rated series over the course of its run.
But despite its modest viewership, Reign did amass a core fan base that kept it on the air for what will be 78 episodes by the time the finale rolls around in 2017. A silver lining for its loyal fans is that showrunners have apparently had enough advance notice as to properly plan a fitting conclusion to the story line rather than leaving with unfinished business.
For the first time, the show will be premiering mid-season rather than part of the regular fall lineup. Season 4 of Reign is scheduled to debut on February 10, 2017 with its final run of 16 episodes.

Sigh.. I knew it would eventually come to an end seeing as how I knew Mary Queen of Scots herself ended. But why cut the show off so suddenly? I love this show! So yet another great show coming to an end. **** you CW!

Considering that in real-life Mary, Queen of Scots was Beheaded by order of Queen Elizabeth, that would be a fitting ending to the Series...

I really love this show, but like "The Doctor" said...it is a period piece and we all know what happens to her in the end. It is kind of like "The Tudors". You knew the King was going to die, but hated to see the series end!

unfortunately the lead character of Mary was eventually executed by QE1 but not until they were both much older than portrayed in this Made for American TV show. How can they rewrite history to give it a happy ending. Awa and bile yer heids.
She is still young in the show and her live did not end until she was nearly 40. She does marry Lord darnley to whom she has a son. Who becomes James the 6 of Scotland and the first of England.
