The popular drama is picked up through Season 3.

NBC announced today that its fall breakout This Is Us has received an early order for two additional seasons. The double renewal, which sees it through to at least Season 3, comes on the heels of last week's strong performance that saw the critically-acclaimed drama reach series-high ratings.
This Is Us came at the perfect time for the peacock network, which was searching for its next bona fide hit. Premiering last September, it didn't take long for the show to make its mark. Its first episode was not only the highest-rated premiere of the 2016-2017 season, but actually now ranks as NBC's most-viewed series premiere ever when factoring in its various delivery platforms.
Showing confidence that This Is Us can be a flagship series for years to come, NBC opted to double up on the show's first renewal. A minimum of 18 episodes have been ordered for each for the upcoming seasons, which matches the current season's total.

I love it. It so real.
The thin-skinned black man, angry and resentful against anyone he thinks has wronged him. The thin-skinned obese woman, angry and resentful against anyone she thinks has disrespected her. The self-doubting ex-Manny, angry and resentful against anyone he thinks doesn't love and adore him. All have become irritating.
Even the novelty of the oddball triplets family has worn off. The writing is still good but almost everything else is stalling. For me anyway.
At least a two season renewal will give the producers a chance to create a consistent story line with decent pacing. Often when a series doesn't know if it's going to get a renewal until the last episode of a season it messes up what can be done the following season. This show has a very complicated plot line that depends on the reveal of hidden secrets and previously unknown connections between the characters.
