The comedy favorite will return next season.
January 20, 2017
NBC has made it official: Will & Grace is being revived for a return to television during the 2017-2018 season. Rumors of a possible revival had been swirling since last fall, when the cast reunited for a short online special urging Americans to vote in the upcoming presidential election. And while that was done without any involvement from NBC, it was obviously enough to get the network to start seriously considering a continuation of the series.
Will & Grace originally premiered in 1998 and during its eight years on the air became a staple in the peacock network's Must See TV comedy lineup on Thursday nights. The series was revered by both audiences and critics alike, consistently drawing top ratings and taking home numerous awards. With today's news, the series joins the growing list of fan-favorite shows coming back to television after extended absences.
NBC has ordered a 10 episode limited run of Will & Grace for its return in 2017-2018. Original stars Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Sean Hayes, and Megan Mullally are all reprising their roles, with creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan taking on the showrunning duties.

This is a great cast and it wouldn't be a bad idea for a reunion show, just see what the characters are up to. But a revival?? Does that mean more episodes after the initial 10? Just seems odd. But hey, NBC is probably trying to capitalize on the success Netflix has had. Good luck with that. I'll probably check it out, though.

Isn't this show really nothing more than gay blackface? Straight actor plays gay guy. Is that offensive on some level? I'm just asking, I don't know.

The problem I see with this is that I wonder where in the storyline they're going to come back. In the finale they fast-forwarded like 20 years to when Will's son and Grace's daughter met and the main 4 were all in their 50's or 60's. Are they just gonna ignore the fact that we already know that and just pick up where they left off before that with both Will and Grace having no significant others and totally uncertain futures?

..... I can not believe they are reviving this.... on network tv no less. It's one thing for Netflix to try and cash in on some nostalgia for a B series (Full House, One Day at a Time, etc). But for one of the big 4 networks to reboot a long dead B sitcom is astounding... I give this 1 season at MOST. Chances are it'll die after less than 13 episodes though. Being gay was "edgy" in the late 90s.. it's not now. This show had nothing else going for it, certainly not any real acting talent anywhere.

I will remove all content and say the style of the show is an old one. Only CBS and some bad ABC shows use it any more. The "setcom" of the 90's, with mulitcam, a laugh track, and the setup-reply joke structure, are going away. If this show uses that style viewers will feel like NBC is trying to bring back a dead horse and turn it off. If it does not use this style viewers will feel like NBC is try to bring out a new show but is out of ideas and turn it off. It might be big for one season, but it probably will be Sean saves the world, Trust Me, Starter Wife, or In the Motherhood.

Yaay and they will make more money from just one season than you will in five years so keep being rude because they don't really care :)

This makes me think of an ex suddenly showing up and asking if we can try again. I'm one of the more than a few GLBT people who didn't like the show, but now once again I'll probably have to put up with that stupid question, "Oh, so you're gay, that means you like Will and Grace, right?" I agree with Spandau, tv has run out of ideas.
