The drama's current season will be cut short.
March 24, 2017
It is being reported that Fox has made some scheduling changes to Lucifer, and will be moving the final four episodes of its current sophomore season to be part of Season 3. The result of that decision will see Season 2's tally drop from 22 episodes down to 18.
It's not all bad news though, as the four episodes being shifted to next season are said to be mostly standalone in nature and will not play a big part in the ongoing storyline. The five remaining episodes in Season 2 begin airing on May 1, with the season finale scheduled for May 29.

@jason - I'm not sure if that's a safe bet considering the main character's dad is God. Lol.

Just as long as they do a better job at making sure it is a standalone that can be moved than the people that did it for shows like Fringe, where killed off cast were suddenly back alive for the episode.

Ill give them the benefit of the doubt, like Jacks said; ratings = money and maybe theres a conflict they werent anticipating. I love the show itself, but Im worried on how far down the rabbit hole theyre going to go. Maintaining status quo will get boring quick, but I hope they dont ruin a good thing by like getting Chloe pregnant, or starting that Rapture too soon... either way, Im in for now...

Good call Jacks. The Plopster was also scratching his head reading Mike's post.

I don't think it's worth trying to read too much into this as far as the status of the show is concerned. Lucifer is a solid program for FOX in the sense that it's not a dumpster fire and it's also not a runaway sensation. It's somewhere in the middle and even though it's a relatively new show, it's got a solid audience and is maintaining decent ratings in their key demographic. The show itself doesn't look too expensive to make and getting a solid audience for a procedural crime drama (more or less) is a big win for fox.
These changes likely boil down to simple scheduling issues. Their original air date may have had them running up against something much more competitive in that time slot, so they decided to move it to a safer part of the calendar.
Side note: @mike ... dang dude. Manic post much?

Lucifier has the perfect cast, Maise is so damn hot!! Chloe as well and of course the mom...basically all the women 😂
The lead actor is cute, loved him on Rush - great show that USA cancelled just like "Complications". "Complications" deserved a second season.
Also loved Lauren German (Chloe) on Chicago Fire. Since they killed off one of their most loved characters, I lost interest when later they replaced her with a look alike and then another member of the cast was wrote off the show.
HOWEVER WE WOULD NOT HAVE THIS AMAZING CAST, so in a way THANK YOU DICK WOLF FOR LAUREN GERMAN TO BE IN A MUCH BETTER SHOW THAN YOUR LAME WRITING THAT CAN't SEEM TO WRITE FOR YOUNG OR GAY CHARACTERS. USA THANK YOU FOR BEING STIPID ENOUGH TO CANCEL "Rush" AS NOW TOM ELLIS IS LUCIFER.
SO ALL IN ALL, THANK YOU, THE #TRUMPDUMP MESS YOU MADE OF YOUR USA CHANNEL!!!!!
You allowed actors that were loved to be in a show called Lucifer (which I am shocked people did not lose their 💩 on this show dealing with Lucifer (Satan). I hope each season adds more and more watchers, because "Lucifer" is amazing!!!! The cast are all brilliant actors and not bad eye candy as a plus 😉
While USA carries a three time cancelled show "Motive" because three cancellations and the fourth must have been amazing 😂
They cancelled so many great shows on USA like "Eyewitness", "Covert Affairs" and "Graceland". Only to provide the following.
Drama/action Edit
Suits (2011) - Good show (Their new White Collar)
Mr. Robot (2015) - for the heroine junkies to watch and others who have no idea wtf is going on, saw season 1 and felt like I WAS ON DRUGS
Colony (2016) - it was umm blah saw some of season 1 and season 2 didn't catch my attention.
Queen of the South (2016) - a real show about "Drugs", I do like this show
Falling Water (2016) - first to keep this over Eyewitness is just strange to me, falling water I have seen four episodes and it hasn't made me that interested.
Shooter (2016) - Ryan Phillips doing a movie that was made into a series, heard it was good, will try out the first couple episodes to decide.
Comedy Edit
Playing House (2014) - Love this â¤ï¸
First Impressions (2016) - I don't believe I have seen this but when I saw a preview it looked funny.

Tom ellis father is NOt Robert Redford. He was born in Wales to his real dad and mum. He may be working on a movie with rr though. I love this show. So at least we got it coming back next year.
