No Season 2 for the low-rated spin-off.
May 12, 2017
While many saw this coming, it is now official: NBC has cancelled The Blacklist: Redemption after one season. The freshman drama premiered earlier this year as a spin-off of The Blacklist, but struggled to find a substantial audience over the course of its eight-episode run.
Spin-offs of successful shows are common, with networks attempting to appeal to the existing audience of an already-popular series. But perhaps the timing for a Blacklist spin-off was a little late, as the once-breakout hit has seen its viewership dip considerably in its later years. With Redemption likely not attracting many new viewers to the franchise, its success would have necessitated a large number of Blacklist viewers to tune into the new entry.

Although I made an exception with "Redemption", this is why I don't invest my time in a new series. Tired of becoming interested in a series just to have it cancelled after one or two seasons. Meanwhile, all the reality and PC crap are renewed. Pretty salty over Chicago Justice and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders being cancelled, as well. Ready to give up on NBC/ABC/CBS and just go with Netflix, etc. Where do these "ratings" come from anyway???

I agree with "Ace". They need to cancel NBC. This show was fantastic. It showed the background and behind the scenes of what was going on with the "Black List". This show and the "Black List" should become a "Netflix Original", and go back into production. SCREW NBC.....

This sucks! I'm glad Blacklist was renewed at least. Incredible show. Redemption started picking up steam about halfway in. (SPOILERS) The twist in the finale with Scottie actually being innocent I did not see coming at all! Great writing and something I hope will continue with Tom on Blacklist. Maybe Tom was talking to Scottie on the phone when he opened the suitcase of Katerina's bones in the Blacklist finale?

Please note that it's not the "idiots" running the network that cancel a show. It's the "idiot" viewers who watch something else (or the smart ones who turn off the tv) who drive the ratings. That's what it's always been about. There is no interest in "quality" programming, only that which you can be convinced to watch.

I personally liked the show and it reminded me of the days when blacklist was good. Unfortunately I think Famke Janssens lack of personality showed and since she's a main character doomed the show. I'll still watch blacklist in hopes it'll get better.

This show was not a good idea. And the execution was not good.

wow ive seen total rubbish get renewed but this doesnt make it???? total idiots they have no idea what they have anymore unless every new show gets rave numbers there gone already, whats the point in watching every week? might as well wait till the series end and watch then if its cut you dont need to watch it and invest.....

I agree with George and the Plop. If they return Tom to the main Blacklist show and surely they must, they will have to wrap up Redemption with an explanation or merge the storylines.
That would be The Blacklist: Resurrection.

I really liked this spin-off. It had more action than the last season of Blacklist. Sad that they're not giving it a chance.
