The action drama will return for Season 2.

In a surprise reversal of decision, NBC has decided to renew Timeless for a second season. The move comes just three days after the network originally cancelled the series to the dismay of the show's fans who were left with a season-ending cliffhanger back in February.
Co-creator Eric Kripke spread the good news on Twitter this morning, writing:
"The #TimeTeam went back 3 days, and changed history. @nbc picked us up for 10 episodes. Seriously. Airs next summer. #TimelessRenewed".
He followed that up minutes later with an update:
"Correction. Info moving fast. We're airing sometime in 2018, not sure when. But we're airing! #ResuscitateTimeless"
Timeless premiered last fall as part of NBC's fall line-up with a lot of momentum behind it. Created by two veteran producers, the series was given a high profile time slot airing after The Voice on Monday nights with heavy promotion, and received high critical praise from early reviews. While its premiere episode got off to a solid start, ratings slipped in subsequent weeks leaving only a limited audience who kept tuning in.
That audience, it turns out, was quite vocal when it was announced that the show would not be returning for a second season. So much so that the series was at the top of USA Today's "Save Our Shows" poll. That reaction seems to have swayed the powers that be to change their minds, resulting in today's pickup.

@Jay U.
Travelers is the only time traveling show i've seen in the past 12 months that has hit those points of yours.

Well, how about that? Apparently my utterance of "Bugger" was indeed the magic word. Much obliged NBC!

To little to late for this fan. I said I would not watch it when it was first cancelled and I do not go back on my word. Even though this is good news I will not be watching this show even though I really want to.

I've never bothered to protest when a network cancels a show that I like because by the time the suits announce their decision there's no changing their minds. Major kudos to NBC for this change of heart. Although I know "heart" really has nothing to do with the reversal...broadcast TV is all about ad revenues...thanks to NBC for giving this gem another chance to fulfill their financial goals. Of the 3 time bending shows that started in the last 12 months (Frequency and Time After Time have also been canceled), Timeless is the only one with enough originality, charm and wit (not unlike Mr. Kripke's Supernatural on CW) to be completely enjoyable to watch. Let's hope that with SyFy's Twelve Monkeys airing it's final season next weekend, those fans will give Timeless a try next year.

Wow this is amazing!!! I don't know if this ever happening before. I'm so excited - my husband and I absolutely love this show and we're so disappointed when the cancellation was announced. Can't wait to see where season 2 goes - thanks NBC for finally listening to your audience and doing the right thing!

Another site said part of the renewal agreement was that it would be more "family friendly". I don't remember much T&A on this show (though I was often multi-tasking). Maybe the first or an early episode had a changing clothes scene with some nice cleavage. What did I miss? Thankfully, I don't recall any male-male in your face sodomy (as in Mr Robot, Nashville, HTGAWM & other 'yuck' shows).
