Just over a month after NBC broke the hearts of #Clockblockers by cancelling Timeless for a second time, it has been confirmed that the show will indeed be returning for a two-part series finale.
The news will surely delight fans of the time travel drama, who were left hanging after a major cliffhanger at the end of its sophomore run. At the time of its cancellation, there were rumors of a possible return to properly wrap up its story but the likelihood of it actually happening was unknown.
Timeless premiered in 2016 with a good amount of momentum behind it. Created by two veteran producers, the series was given a high profile time slot on Monday nights along with heavy promotion. While it was well-received by critics, a solid start in the ratings was not long-lasting, and the show was cancelled for the first time at the end of its freshman run.
NBC eventually had a change of heart and decided to bring the show back for a second season, but its sophomore numbers only further declined. It wasn't much of a surprise when the network cancelled the show once again, but fans were nonetheless upset. And while a third season will not be happening, this two-part finale will provide at least a sense of closure.
Look for the Timeless series finale to air sometime during the holiday season.

This is proof that the creators hated us the viewers. The should have wrapped up the story at the end of the first season. Or after getting a second chance the first time. This movie for ever taints the legacy of this show. Now every time people say timeless we can only think of a show with hateful creators. No true fan should want this show to come back. all that will happen is the creator will try to ruin it like they did from the first season finale on.

This was such a good show - it had endless possible storylines - so sad it has ended !

This is the way shows should end, with a chance to tie up loose ends and not leave fans hanging. Good decision and hopefully a harbinger. SO many shows that are cancelled need to have a proper sendoff.

@I'd be nihilistic - obviously the show is fiction. That is exactly why I often researched people/storylines from the show. Despite all else, I appreciated the episodes that didn't use the same events every other show covers but instead introduced new events to me.

Real history?? Oh yeah I guess they did use names, the names of locations, and a premise which related to the modern myth associated with those names... but beyond that there was no "real history" weaved in whatsoever.

Obviously this show was doomed, but I'm thrilled they ok'd the wrap up. It would be especially great if they manage to include one more interesting historical figure who is unknown to me.
I loved being introduced to people that I could then research. Grace Quackenbos Humiston and H. H. Holmes were 2 I found of particular interest. I was also nudged to learn more about Katherine Johnson among many others.
I realize this show is entertainment, but they managed to weave in enough real history that they encouraged me to research multiple things/people that were both known and unknown to me. I appreciated that very much.

Plenty of "real" seasons end. Most actually don't have a cliffhanger. If they took it away the first season and the show had to fight to get a second season they should have realized it was not going to last. So many of the fans did and stopped watching. They treated it like they owned the network. They did not. If they cared about the show they could have wrapped it with room to make a 3rd season. They must not have cared about the fans or the story.

The public REALLY needs to learn how to move on. It's TV for heaven's sake.. who cares if they spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on some silly "wrap up" movie. It'll suck because they can't follow their given formula they use for the episodes. And as someone pointed out.. it was canceled at season 1 and NBS gave them 10 more episodes to wrap things up.. they screwed the pooch and didn't. They had their chance. Just let it go.

I"m happy, if people knew they would always be allowed closer to the shows they watch, they may invest more of their time to do so.
I find it hard to watch anything new for fear it gets canceled, at least this way we get a proper ending.
