Eight last episodes will conclude the series.
May 14, 2017
It was announced today that Fox has renewed New Girl for a seventh and final season. The Zooey Deschanel-led comedy has had a successful run for the network, first as a breakout hit in 2011 and then as a reliable utility player during its later years, where it still managed to rank as Fox's highest-rated live-action comedy.
Knowing the end was certainly happening sooner than later, showrunners smartly wrapped up Season 6 in a way that could serve as a series ender if need be. But with today's pickup for 2017-2018, the show now has eight last episodes to properly conclude the series.

I only made it to season 3 and then it became a chore. Sorry for the those who still enjoy it.

Noooooo!! Alright, kind of predicted that it would be ending soon but I'm just not ready for it to end. I kind of wish the final season would be a full season and not just 8 episodes. SIGH. Ah well -- It had a good run and I wish the best for the actors in future products.

I'm sick of Jessica & Nick. I enjoyed the show when Jess was gone for several episodes. Not so much when she came back.

Damn, I for one actually still love and enjoy the show I wish it wouldn't get end. Why only 8 episodes? And why does this get cancelled but other shows that are far worse (anything on ABC) still live?

Eric, the show has already been on for 140 episodes.....and they basically almost wrapped it up anyway. Eight episodes is plenty. People are never happy. In reality, a show never truly ends.....because a character in theory will continue to live their life. Has to end at some point.

The show was pretty good, most times... I did enjoy it, and I'm happy they give a chance for a real ending! 😃 I will miss it though

I'm glad we get more than last season's finale, but not sure that 8 episodes is enough to wrap it all up.

This show has had some great highs but there's been times where it was a chore to watch but kept watching out of loyalty, this was due for it to end
