No Season 4 for the space drama.
September 1, 2017
Word is out this afternoon that Dark Matter has been cancelled at Syfy after three seasons. Series co-creator Joseph Mallozzi confirmed the news in a post this afternoon on his personal blog, expressing his deep sadness in a brief statement and promising to follow up with more thoughts in a further entry.
Based on the graphic novel of the same name, the Canadian-produced space drama follows the crew of a derelict spaceship who awaken from stasis with no memories of who they are or how they got on board the vessel. They then work together to survive the voyage, facing threats such as betrayal, secrets, and vengeance around every corner.
The series aired its final episode just last week, ending a three-year run with a total of 39 episodes.

How does DM get cancelled & Killjoys gets 2 new seasons? DM is 100 times better than Killjoys. There is nothing left to watch on SyFy.

That's a shame. If nothing else this deserves a mini series to tie up the loose ends.
It has been an entertaining series and with enough interesting plot threads left to tell a few more tales, even if in doing so they wind the story up.

You know some series should never have been done, good example was "Aftermath" where they came up with another threat every week. But Dark Matter was a quality show that was interesting. I will agree with FloridAL the duplicate characters was unneeded and just a distraction,
..Dark Matter will be missed.

This show had a lot of good things going for it (the look of the Raza and good acting) but it also had a lot of unnecessary plot elements that pulled focus from the series. For example, I don't like when a show starts introducing duplicate characters where one is evil and one is good. That has been so overdone that, to me, it raises a red flag that the writers have lost their creativity. As some other reviewers have noted, some episodes were right on target and satisfying throughout and others were loosely held together and meandering. Regardless, I would have stayed with this series and am a little annoyed that they couldn't get it together but understand why it was cancelled.

It is a vicious cycle. Shows get cancelled early or unfinished. Viewers refuse to watch shows until they have been on for a season or two because they do not want to get vested. Show then gets cancelled due to poor ratings. Hey SYFY, if a shows ratings are trending south give it one more season to wrap it up. This will motivate viewers to adopt other shows early on and will lead to better ratings.

Well that sucks. They could at least do 1 episode to tie it all together. I hate when they just leave it unfinished.
