No Season 4 for the space drama.
September 1, 2017
Word is out this afternoon that Dark Matter has been cancelled at Syfy after three seasons. Series co-creator Joseph Mallozzi confirmed the news in a post this afternoon on his personal blog, expressing his deep sadness in a brief statement and promising to follow up with more thoughts in a further entry.
Based on the graphic novel of the same name, the Canadian-produced space drama follows the crew of a derelict spaceship who awaken from stasis with no memories of who they are or how they got on board the vessel. They then work together to survive the voyage, facing threats such as betrayal, secrets, and vengeance around every corner.
The series aired its final episode just last week, ending a three-year run with a total of 39 episodes.

This just goes to prove that the execs at these networks never actually watch the shows they put on air, because if they did, they obviously would have done this in reverse by giving DM two more seasons and cancelling Killjoys instead.
Our TV programming is being run by a bunch of moronic idiots that need a lesson in what is considered good television. Tis a sad day indeed when a show with an awesome story, acting and CGI effects gets the boot because of some stupid moron in a suit says the numbers aren't what they want.

I love this show! You left kill Joy and canned Dark Matter! I am sick of this crap! Rethinking SySf altogether!

Yet another bonehead exec decision that makes absolutely no sense. Kill Joy gets to waste more air time and Dark Matter - a show with great CG, whose writing kept you off balance between the definition of life and what in-composes true friendship - gets the axe. Very few shows draw my attention and an even harder task is to keep my attention. Although weak at first there was something in the dynamics of the cast and my need to know more about where the writers were taking us that kept me tuned in. Three seasons and it just kept getting better, and now this...Idiots

I cant believe that kill joy gets renewed and dark matrer gets canned. I've watched both since the beginning and Dark Matter is far superior. I'm sick of investing time in these duty channel showed just to have them yanked out from under you. I cancel duty from my viewing list.

I'm shocked. I liked this show, and I love the concept that missing memories could completely change a person's conscience. I do miss some of the characters, but that is the way TV is written these days.

Oh, and I apologize for always asking the same question, but does the series wrap up or end on a cliffhanger that will leave me annoyed? I usually read the thread for my answer before wasting space, but I found info I didn't want to know in the Saving Hope thread, so I'll just ask. Thanks.

Another cliffhanger.
At least they should have given them the chance to finish the story. This is the worst thing you can do to your audience.
I wish there could be a law to force creators fix cliffhangers if there are any. This happened then, happened now, and will happen in the future. However, I do not think that this could be even feasible, wishful thinking.

This is hard to believe. Dark Matter gets the axe and Killjoys is kept alive. I've watched a couple pieces of Killjoys and it looks like the same mess it was when I actually watched it. I have last season's Dark Matter teed up to watch and I was really looking forward to it. If people here had said it got bad this year, then I could understand it getting cancelled. But not so. For every weak spot in Dark Matter, there are five or ten strong aspects. Too good to cancel. On the other hand, the average tv viewer is apparently illiterate.
