More episodes ordered for the new medical drama.

ABC announced today that five additional episodes have been ordered for the first season of The Good Doctor. The top-up brings the medical drama's episode count to 18 and makes it the first new drama of the fall to earn a full-season pickup - though it does fall short of the traditional 22 episodes that constitute a full season.
The Monday night series is two episodes into its run and off to a strong start. After its premiere garnered a 2.2 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic, it impressively duplicated that number in week two - a feat not often accomplished.
The Good Doctor follows Dr. Shaun Murphy, a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome who leaves his quiet, country life behind to join the surgical unit at a renowned hospital in San Jose, California. Alone in his new surroundings and not able to form a personal connection with his peers, Dr. Murphy puts his extraordinary medical gifts to use in order to save lives and challenge his skeptical colleagues.

What a fantastic show!!! Different in so many ways. This is very creative writing. All the people we know can not wait for Monday night. You are on the edge of your seat because you never know what will happen next. Freddie Highmore plays this role to the hilt. Can not wait for the next episode.

John... unfortunately there are doctors who do in fact have an ego like those shown in the show. It's awful. Thankfully it seems it's hidden well in most cases. I live this show it depicts a lot of accuracy... except the sex... I didn't run into any of that, but that's what makes it a dramatic tv show. :-)

Freddie Highmore is AMAZING! Loved him as Norman Bates and love him in this show! He makes the rest of the cast look so so though... I hope they pick it up so this show can stay on the air! Love it!

So far the show seems ok. The only problem I have with the show is all the other Doctor's egos are too big and viewers will get turn off by that and the show will be canceled.

Freddie Highmore is amazing at acting.After Bates Motel I just knew someone would eventually put him to work on another show.Who wouldn't want him in their show?

But honestly, I'm enjoying it so far. Let's just hope abc doesn't do it like they do other shows I enjoy. :/

Freddie Highmore is excellent the rest of the cast not so. Apart from Freddie and an old bloke the cast consists of non white characters who are prejudiced.

It would be nice if there was a “reknowned†hospital in San Jose. Unfortunately, there isn’t.
