ABC announced today that The Good Doctor has been renewed for a sixth season. The early pickup comes midway through Season 5 of the medical drama, which is continuing to garner respectable ratings for the network on Monday nights.
The series stars Freddie Highmore as Dr. Shaun Murphy, a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome who leaves his quiet country life behind to join the surgical unit at a renowned hospital in San Jose, California. Alone in his new surroundings and not able to form a personal connection with his peers, Dr. Murphy puts his extraordinary medical gifts to use in order to save lives and challenge his skeptical colleagues.
Season 6 of The Good Doctor will see it surpass the 100-episode milestone. Look for a premiere this fall as part of ABC's 2022-2023 lineup.

I'm happy it was renewed but two of my three favorite characters (Dr Melendez and Dr Brown) are gone. The show isn't as good as it was when they were on it.

Mrs. Raylan125 just noticed that the show came back on the air nearly a month ago without any commercials saying it was, so this is a surprise.
