The comedy spin-off will return for Season 2.
January 6, 2018
CBS announced today that Young Sheldon has been renewed for a second season. The early pickup, which comes ahead of the network's presentation at TCA today, is really a no-brainer considering the comedy's solid performance so far during its freshman season.
Premiering back in September, the show's first episode made a splash by garnering an impressive 3.8 rating among adults 18-49 while netting a total of over 17 million viewers. It was just days later that CBS ordered a full season. Now 10 episodes into its run, the show's numbers continue to be solid airing after The Big Bang Theory on Thursday nights. Overall it ranks as the top new comedy of the season.
A spin-off of The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon follows a 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper growing up in East Texas. At a young age, his advanced mathematical and scientific mind isn't necessarily helpful when living in a town where football and church get all the attention. Vulnerable, gifted and naive, Sheldon is embarking on his awkward journey toward the man he will become.

I was completely skeptical at the beginning when I heard about that show. However, I found some episodes to be OK. I am not saying that it is great, but at least you can watch.
The thing about this show that it reminds me of Malcolm in the middle. In fact, I think the way they built the characters was notably inspired by Malcolm in the middle. A hapless kind father, devious siblings, and an authoritative mother.
My expectations that i will get better in the next seasons.

Well lets not forget Kaley Cuoco did 8 simple rules and charmed, plus a few things after that, before getting this gig.
As for her character being a "corporate genius" - no they don't portray that. The 'joke' is pill pushers are good looking woman and that sells - not the brains. (I say joke because I don't believe that the case before anyone says anything)
Also, it is good to have a character on TV who started out less than bright, yet has learned as she has grown older.
This is a good role model, Penny never had to apply herself, but when she meet people who did, she grew as a person and learned stuff too, she isn't just a 'dumb blond'.
Anyway - all that is off topic sorry - again 'cool' I am glad this got renewed I like it!! lol

I am enjoying Young Sheldon, the young actor playing the lead is really good. Annie Potts as Meemaw is hilarious!!

Yet again, CBS continues to churn out uninspired, tepid programming for old people who want to watch television without actually having to think.

Jim Parsons will be just fine when BBT ends. As others stated, he has a decent movie career as well, and that will only get better when BBT ends and he has more available time. Plus he is likely going to play The Riddler. As far as Young Sheldon, I am sorta rooting for it, but at the same time I don't want it to outlast BBT.

"He and his husband are producing that as well." -- Of COURE< you get work if you PAY for it. That's like stating Ivanka Trump EARNED her government position.

@Ted - Johnny Galecki has almost 30 movie/TV credits BEFORE the first episode of BBT even aired. Several of them in big box office movies/high ratings TV shows. Hes the only one on the show that had a rock solid acting resume long before BBT was even written.

I'm surprised it got renewed and the positive feedback from other posters. I wanted to give it a fair chance and watched 4 eposides before deleting the rest from my pvr. It's not funny and doesn't remind me of sheldon from bbt. I was pretty disappointed by the show but to each there own.

I think Jim Parsons is the only one out of BBT who will do well in the next 10-20 years the other will get parts but probably cause of him
