No Season 3 for the Kiefer Sutherland drama.
May 11, 2018
ABC has reportedly cancelled Designated Survivor after two seasons. The sad news comes with only one episode remaining in the political drama's sophomore run, which will now act as its series ender.
The Kiefer Sutherland-led series premiered in 2016 as one of the network's best-performing new entries of the season, attracting a sizeable audience and even picking up Critics' Choice award. Viewers didn't stick around for long though, as its numbers dipped in Season 2 after the show's main plot wrapped up.
Designated Survivor marked Sutherland's first return to a TV starring role since his career-reviving role as Jack Bauer in Fox's 24 franchise. Sutherland plays a Cabinet member who is unexpectedly thrust into the role of President of the United States after a bombing at the Capitol kills a number of key government figures. After being sworn in as President, he starts to learn that the catastrophic attack was only the beginning of a much larger plan.
The series finale of Designated Survivor airs on May 16.

It's quite simple.. It's not cause of reality shows or this or that show, it's because there is an ABUNDANCE of content among other reasons. People in general are overwhelmed with how much there is in more ways than one and regardless of any of these amazing shows being canceled, there's only so much time to watch them. Realistically too, with network shows, it's a game of chess first where one show gets canned and another network makes the move to pick it up (sometimes) (Mindy Project, Last Man Standing etc). Also, we are farrrr beyond due for App based Network TV to be available. Meaning NBC, CBS, FOX, ABC should have app based (a 'la Netflix) where their shows are always available (free of charge - with new content being added weekly) but embedding the commercials into the content (how Crackle does). We all invest in these shows and then have no closure when they're pulled from us that more and more over time we'll stop watching altogether which really doesn't solve the problem. Sad week for TV and really for no reason.. My thoughts

I had hoped for at least another season so that he would finish his term. They could have centered around the campaign and maybe at the end Kirkman not being re-elected would be a good ending.
Since the season 2 finale is obviously already made I'm sure it ends unsatisfactory, again.

xDarealx I think since it said "franchise", it includes 24: Live Another Day, which aired after Touch.

Some great programs are getting the axe this week, but as I said in another post, it's important to keep renewing the pathetic reality shows because that is just riveting television to watch.

I quit watching after they killed off the wife and Kirkman went bonkers. Big mistake by the writers.
