No Season 4 for the medical drama.
May 24, 2018
It looks like the current season of Code Black will be its last, as CBS has opted not to bring the medical drama back for Season 4. Word came from showrunner Michael Seitzman, who broke the sad news to his Twitter followers overnight.
The decision to cancel the series comes four episodes into the current third season, which premiered in April as a mid-season entry. The show was previously on the network's regular fall schedule for its first two seasons, but never really found a sizeable audience. Both of its past renewals came as last-minute decisions, but it looks like the network already knows what it wants to do this time around.
Inspired by an award-winning documentary, Code Black takes place in the busiest emergency room in the country. The term refers to when there are more patients than personnel or resources to treat them all, which occurs an alarming 300 days a year. The outstanding staff of this notoriously overcrowded and understaffed ER work to protect their patients and their ideals by confronting a challenged system that pushes them to their limits.

It is truly a shame that CBS would cancel this show. I am 38, so while I am not sure which age group enjoys this show, I love it and feel any age group can enjoy it. It is THE best medical drama on TV right now. Yet CBS wants to waste their time with Survivor, Amazing Race, Big Brother, & The Big Bang Theory which have run their course and frankly, are rather dumb. This medical show wasn't all about drama, social conflicts or sexual relationships, it was actually mostly medicine. CBS should be ashamed. Really hoping that Netflix picks this up. (I was also sad that Zoo and The Night Shift were cancelled! What the heck is wrong with you people?!)

I am so crushed and heartbroken. My most favorite show and to learn you have cancelled it!!! There are hardly any good shows on TV anymore and you take this one away! Boo on you. I am sure you will not find a show to replace it so you have lost a loyal viewer. Shame shame shame

We implore you not to cancel this fast paced show that digs deep into many current social issues. Marsha Gay Hardin and Rob Lowe are excellent, having spent many years perfecting their art. We did not like the premier show, but became hooked on every episode thereafter. You have developed the characters that many of the lesser known actors play, and have a chance with this to spin many of them into more significant careers. Think of the excellent career of Rob Lowe and how the Outsiders spun many young actors into life long careers in acting. Please don't cancel this socially/medically/First Responder significant show. It appeals to the many generations in our family whom have careers in these fields. Code Black shows the human tug of war with many career decisions that challenge us, abiding by the law versus the heart and soul of a matter.

Very disappointed to hear of the cancellation. This is a cast of excellent actors, story lines blended well and very fast paced. We will not watch reality shows or game shows. We hope that another network will pick it up and realize that there is a wide audience for such good quality shows .There are so many shows that do not challenge the intellect as this does, what a shame!!

Another excellent show being canceled by CBS and it doesn't surprise me. What they need to cancel is Survivor, Amazing Race, and Big Brother. I'm sorry, but those three shows have gone on long enough and everyone knows that Survivor is completely fake because it's the producers that are on the island with they people that start all the problems between people and they decide who wins at the end, not the people who are there on the island. That news came out long ago. Bad move CBS!!!

Yet another erudite, fast-paced show for adults canceled. Sorry we're not in the target demographic, but we watch TV too. Some savvy network honcho should appreciate the loyal over 49 crowd who enjoys quality programming; something that isn't about superheroes or "meta-humans" or a futuristic world gone wild. Hopefully, the smart people at Netflix or Amazon will pick up this show, and perhaps one day, the networks will realize their foolhardiness.

Of course, now that they’ve canceled Code Black,
it’s now number 3 on the Neilson Ratings.

Another good show cancelled by clueless networks, do these people not do research, listen to fans an see the stuff your keeping on air is barely classed as 'tv' in comparison to the good shows with good actors and scripts being cancelled...
disgusting

Can’t rely on the big 3 (or 4) networks to keep the good shows that adults want to watch. Here’s your chance Netflix. Snap it up PLEASE.
