No Season 4 for the medical drama.
May 24, 2018
It looks like the current season of Code Black will be its last, as CBS has opted not to bring the medical drama back for Season 4. Word came from showrunner Michael Seitzman, who broke the sad news to his Twitter followers overnight.
The decision to cancel the series comes four episodes into the current third season, which premiered in April as a mid-season entry. The show was previously on the network's regular fall schedule for its first two seasons, but never really found a sizeable audience. Both of its past renewals came as last-minute decisions, but it looks like the network already knows what it wants to do this time around.
Inspired by an award-winning documentary, Code Black takes place in the busiest emergency room in the country. The term refers to when there are more patients than personnel or resources to treat them all, which occurs an alarming 300 days a year. The outstanding staff of this notoriously overcrowded and understaffed ER work to protect their patients and their ideals by confronting a challenged system that pushes them to their limits.

My husband and I are both disappointed this show is being canceled. Frankly, neither one of us can understand why. It's a great show and usually has me sitting on the edge of my couch--the action never stops. I told my husband it probably doesn't appeal the 20-35 year olds (or whatever that range is) that TV targets because they spend the most money. Well, we're older, but we still enjoy a great show. Hope CBS reconsiders.

Shame on you CBS. CODE BLACK has an excellent cast, excellent scripts and excellent chemistry. I don't know what TV execs want but people like me, want good shows like this one. Not more reality shows. Pleaae bring this back or ask another network, as seems to be the norm these days.

I cannot figure out why CBS cancelled this show after watching last week and this weeks episodes. This is a HUGE mistake on CBS's part. I will not watch the stupid reality/game show they will put in it's place! I hope another network picks it up and runs with it. Great cast and plots!

There is no room for good shows anymore. Its all about reality tv. It cost too much to produce a good show with a great cast. They always cancel the shows worth watching.

Huge mistake killing off this show - it was outstanding and breath holding most of the time! I loved it! Bad move CBS, bad move. Now I have no reason to watch anything on your channel...bye!

Another disappointing decision by CBS. I used to watch CBS almost exclusively--not any more. Night after night nothing to watch. I have lost both Code Black and The Brave. Maybe ABC will begin producing interesting programming for adults without falling back on reality drivel or half baked comedy.
