The fantasy drama will conclude in 2019.
June 4, 2018
Freeform announced this evening that Shadowhunters will conclude after its current third season. The sad news comes midway through Season 3, which is slated to return with its remaining episodes next spring.
Part of the announcement also included a small silver lining in the form of a confirmed two-episode finale special. It is not clear if this will be part of the 12 episodes still left in the show's existing 22-episode order, or if it will air in addition to that. Either way, this gives the show's writers an opportunity to craft a proper ending to the series.
Based on Cassandra Clare's best-selling The Mortal Instruments books, the series follows a young girl who learns that she comes from a long line of human-angel hybrids known as Shadowhunters. After her mother is kidnapped, she becomes immersed in the world of demon hunting as she begins a journey of self-discovery in a new world filled with faeries, warlocks, vampires, and werewolves.
Look for the final episodes of Shadowhunters to begin airing in the spring of 2019.

I don't care how long a show airs as long as it gets a wrap up. Otherwise my time has been a waste in most cases. So I say, yeah!
And I fall in the group of people who will be waiting to see what happens to Cloak and Dagger before watching it at all - though I do realize that alone makes it less likely to be renewed. The catch 22 in action. Oh well.

What a crock! Everything I like and enjoy has been cancelled, tv sucks anymore if it isn’t some shitty reality tv show it doesn’t last! I will not be watching Freeform any longer. Shadowhunters was the best show you all had!

Honestly. I was surprised when this show lasted for 3 seasons. I would love to see a spin off where they focus more on Magnus Bane and the downworld rather then the Shadow Hunters. I found many of the downworlders to be much more interesting characters than Clary and the Shadow Hunters.

The problem is that it's on freeform. Which was abc family. So many great shows on it are axed because it's not on lets say ABC. Many great shows just vanish on it. R.L. stines the haunting hour. the aquabats supershow, Ravenswood, beyond, stitchers , I hope Sirens lasts longer. IF any of those shows were on other networks they might have a chance. However giving Shadowhunters a proper end is a good thing. All of those other shows just vanished.

Long overdue. Idiocy by the characters was used way to much to move the plot along. In season 3, the only thing I found interesting was Simon and his brand on his forehead.

For those that said they won't watch Cloak and Dagger....Don't. No one cares what you watch. Freeform is an unknown network so their shows probably won't last long. But don't act like anyone cares if you watch or not because they cancelled this show so apparently not.

Why does Freeform ALWAYS cancel their fantasy shows...First Stitchers; now, Shadowhunters.
Not holding out much hope for Siren when it returns...

Geez...Freeform is as bad as ABC when it comes to canceling shows! I really liked this show. It makes me not want to watch the new show premiering this month "Cloak & Dagger".
