The fantasy drama will conclude in 2019.
June 4, 2018
Freeform announced this evening that Shadowhunters will conclude after its current third season. The sad news comes midway through Season 3, which is slated to return with its remaining episodes next spring.
Part of the announcement also included a small silver lining in the form of a confirmed two-episode finale special. It is not clear if this will be part of the 12 episodes still left in the show's existing 22-episode order, or if it will air in addition to that. Either way, this gives the show's writers an opportunity to craft a proper ending to the series.
Based on Cassandra Clare's best-selling The Mortal Instruments books, the series follows a young girl who learns that she comes from a long line of human-angel hybrids known as Shadowhunters. After her mother is kidnapped, she becomes immersed in the world of demon hunting as she begins a journey of self-discovery in a new world filled with faeries, warlocks, vampires, and werewolves.
Look for the final episodes of Shadowhunters to begin airing in the spring of 2019.

Only came on to confirm my suspicions. Seeing as Katherine McNamara who played Clary is now in Arrow as Mia Smoak. I am not surprised the show ended. It's just as well season 3 was approved before season 2 ended because season 2 was the cancer that killed any future seasons beyond season 3 in my opinion.
And I'm not to bothered seeing as Katherine is now in one of my favourite shows so I got some eye candy to look at.

This cancellation is the straw that has broken the preverbial camels back. Freeform has lost yet another viewer. I was already ticked off about the powers that be ending Young and Hungry and now they go and cancel Shaddow Hunters as well. All I have to say is they have one less viewer to annoy now.

I loved the first season. The second season turned into a never ending story of the crazy father wanting to take over the world. Had that been resolved quickly and they went back to just protecting humanity it would have been great. Instead it turned into some stupid political drama where the higher ups did stupid things to thwart the people in the know. Thus it became a two front war. I quit watching about a third of the way into season two. The show had an interesting premise and was well executed in the first season. Then the writers got bored and turned it into a soap opera.

To be honest, I couldn't get into it. I actually tried watching it. And honestly? I didn't like it at all. So in a way, I'm actually glad it got cancelled.

mandi. Sirens is the only show left that's fantasy on there. SO support that at least. And you get 12 more episodes I think of shadowhunters.

I'm surprised this show lasted this long. It was cheesy and bad from the start like fanfiction- and I've read better Mortal Instruments fanfiction.
I'd be nihilistic if it mattered

Made it halfway into episode 1 season1.. couldn't take the horrible mediocre writing and acting.. Really surprised it lasted as long as it has.

I love Freeform and I’m glad to see they didn’t let this train wreck go on any longer. I stuck it out through the first season and then it’s like all of the actors got even worse. Such horrible acting. I had to bail. I don’t understand how it lasted even this long. Don’t mean to offend anyone who liked it. To each their own, but this was one I just couldn’t sit through.

R.I.P. Stopped watching when the bad acting killed my imagination and only left the feeling of being annoyed. That was only the first episode too. I blame the director for not getting the best performance from the actors.

being a huge fan of the books, I hated this monstrosity with every cell in my body... sorry for the cast and crew but I'm sooo glad is finally over! terrible show, poor cast choices, bad writing, cringe worthy dialogues and performances, lame special effects, it hurt to watch such a good story being shred to tiny horrible pieces
