USA Network announced today that Queen of the South has been picked up for a fourth season. The good news, coming just two weeks following last month's Season 3 finale, is no real surprise. The drama has continued its strong performance, ranking as cable television's top scripted series in its Thursday time slot among numerous key demographics.

Queen of the South follows the story of a woman out to take down the leader of a drug trafficking ring that has her on the run in America after her boyfriend was murdered in Mexico. The series is based on the best-selling novel La Reina Del Sur by acclaimed author Arturo Pérez-Reverte.

Current showrunner Natalie Chaidez has announced that she is leaving the show in order to develop her own projects full-time. Taking her place for Season 4 will be Dailyn Rodriguez and Ben Lobato, who will share the showrunning duties going forward. Look for Season 4 around the summer of 2019.
