The CW is firming up the episode counts of its freshman fall dramas today, and Legacies has received a small order of three extra episodes on top of its original 13 to bring its new total to 16.
The rookie drama, which acts as a follow-up to The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, premiered in late-October and is just two episodes into its debut run. Ratings started out so-so, but week 2 viewership - both overall and among adults 18-49 - saw an uptick to more-favorable numbers.
Legacies focuses on a group of young adults including Hope Mikaelson, the 17-year-old 'tribrid' daughter of Klaus and Hayley, and Lizzie and Josie Saltzman, Alaric Saltzman's twin girls. These young vampires, werewolves, and witches are coming of age in unconventional ways - on the road to becoming the heroes or villains they are meant to be.

I came to this website because I realized I was getting very invested in Legacies very quickly so I wanted to be sure it wasn't cancelled!
I completely agree with MJ's @everyone. I didn't watch The Originals and though I did watch the beginning of Vampire Diaries, I remember very little of it. I'm in the third episode of Legacies, and I just keep right on binging straight through. I'm glad I waited to start until I had 6 episodes queued.

Yes, I love Secret Circle and was devastated when it ended way too soon.
I desperately hope people give this a try, especially the people that never watched Vampire Diaries or The Originals. There are little things I can tell that I'm missing in the history, but it doesn't really matter - specifically when they describe their parentage. Since I'm not familiar with those characters, those few set-up comments go right over my head. Luckily it doesn't seem to matter at all that I didn't watch the 1st two series.

@ Mark you clearly did not watch the show long enough to know what happened to Hayley. Or maybe you didn’t pay attention. Hope did kidnap her mom but that’s all you got right. She cloaked Hayley nearby. Then Hayley was kidnapped FROM Hope. Hope tried to save her mom. Hayley had to die in the show because Phoebe Tonkin was not going to be in Legacies. They needed to wrap up her storyline.

Legacies isn’t going to win any Emmys but it is still a good show. Come for Alaric, and Hope but stay for Lizzie and Josie, Matt Donovan, Landon, Raefel. The characters evolve after the storyline is in place.
If you like TVD, the Originals, Grimm, Teen Wolf, Charmed, chances are you will like this show.. especially if you give it a few episodes.
Yes the majority of the characters are teenagers. But not all the characters are. It isn’t sexually or weird. It’s about magic and mythical beings. It goes beyond vampires, werewolves and witches. Dragons, gargoyles, and other beings are explored.
Give this show a chance or it might just be cancelled.. remember The Secret Circle?.. cancelled too soon.

Didn't watch the Vampire Diaries for me it replaces Grime due to the creatures and the unexpected.

I think its alright maybe not as good as the others but certainly has potential.

Vampire Diaries was aimed at late teens to early 20s. Originals was aimed more at adults I think. Legacies seems aimed more at teenagers.
I LOVED Originals the most. Especially for Elijah, he was always the calm collected one until he unleashed his inner badass monster side. I really liked Klaus a lot too.
On Vampire Diaries, I really disliked Caroline the most in the beginning. She was just really annoying until she became a vampire. Then she was awesome. Damon, though, was my favorite of the brothers.

@ Mark..Oh..See I didn't even watch the whole show.I just went on Netflix to the episode where she died because I wanted to see how she died.TVD was by far the best out of Julie Plec and the only one I had interest in.The Originals,not so much.But Okay.

I lost interest in The Originals after season 2. The Vampire Diaries was the only one of the two I liked so I'm not even bothering with this one.

@ Sweet. How did Hayley get in that position. Hope had someone attack her because she wanted her dad. Didn't think of the spell that made it so that they could not be close to each other. It was stupid.

I'm not interested because of Hope. She killed Hayley, my favorite character on The Originals.
