No Season 4 for the veteran superhero series.
November 29, 2018
Netflix cut back its superhero fare further today, cancelling Daredevil after three seasons. The somewhat surprising move comes the month after fellow Marvel entries Luke Cage and Iron Fist were also axed at the streaming service.
The reasons behind the recent cancellations are unknown, but appears clear that Netflix is making a visible effort to pare down on its Marvel-related original content. Moving forward, just two active series remain from the comic imprint: Jessica Jones and The Punisher. It is not clear if the Daredevil character will make any appearances in either of the other shows' upcoming seasons, but a statement from the streamer mentioned that the character will live on in future projects for Marvel.
Daredevil premiered back in 2015 as the first Marvel superhero series on the streaming service. It was an immediate hit, with critics and audiences alike praising its gritty atmosphere, engaging story, and exciting action. Its success paved the way for the four aforementioned series, with each earning multiple seasons of their own.
Daredevil followed attorney Matt Murdock, who was blinded as a boy in a tragic accident that also left him with extraordinary senses. Now with his law practice setup in his old New York neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen, Matt works as a respected lawyer by day and assumes the identity of the masked vigilante known as Daredevil at night.

Netflix has filmed another season of Punisher, and is still shooting on Jessica Jones. I strongly suspect these two series are also headed for cancellation, but Netflix is delaying the announcements until after airing the final seasons of each.

I for one dont blame Netflix - between being strong-armed by Disney and plummeting ratings, i can certainly see where this show would be a risk to continue... that being said i still think its a bad move. One thing for sure though, i will not be joining Disneys streaming service now, or ever. Last nail in the coffin for me, between their fights with Amazon and this, i know see what kind of parent company they are choosing to be. Im still a fan of Netflix, and a fan of Marvel, but i can wait for anything else from Disney to come out on cable...

You would think theyd want to keep "Defenders" if Disney lets them. That way we can still get all of their story lines together in one show AND have plenty of said story lines, thats actually EXCITING to watch as it would be the only show they can seen on. Not like that boring collection of crap we got aaaaalll through the first season until the very end. Also, I think Elektra's consciousness is trapped inside Daredevil. Want to see how that pans out. Did any of you interpret that scene in episode 3.1 as Elektra's consciousness being trapped inside Daredevil?

Btw, to the person asking about Defenders, there was never a second season planned for that from the beginning. It was a "possibility" but they intended all along for it to stand alone unless something crazy happened down the line.
Daredevil is what got me into Marvel in the first place and I'm now a huge fan. I know this will sound dramatic, but this feels unreal. I hope the fanfic community keeps going strong.

What's the worst thing is that season 3 was really good. It's pretty clear the other two shows are going to die to now. They should have aired the next two and then come out as a whole and said they were parting ways with marvel properties. Or sold the shows and their seasons to Disney plus so they could continue. Most people are probably just going to have both Disney and Netflix not drop one for the other.
