The spin-off comedy scores a two-season pickup.
February 22, 2019
CBS announced a two-season renewal for Young Sheldon today - the first of its kind for the comedy - that will see it on the air through Season 4. The Chuck Lorre-created spin-off has been one of the network's top comedies over the course of its run.
Premiering in 2017, the show was quick to find an audience thanks to it being based on the early life of popular Big Bang Theory character Sheldon Cooper. With The Big Bang Theory set to end this year, Young Sheldon could become TV's most-watched comedy and in all probability will take over its predecessor's time slot going forward.
Young Sheldon follows a 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper growing up in East Texas. At a young age, his advanced mathematical and scientific mind isn't necessarily helpful when living in a town where football and church get all the attention. Vulnerable, gifted and naive, Sheldon is embarking on his awkward journey toward the man he will become.

God loves Sheldon. Dasid, he loves rock and roll and all things cool too.

This show is the rare, near perfection spin off from the original. Iain Armitage as Sheldon was a perfect cast. Every other casting decision is spot on and the sleeper hit of the show is Annie Potts as memaw.

I was hesitant to watch YS, but the casting makes it great. Iain Armitage is adorable, but I am worried about all the younger actors as they age. I also love Jerry O'Connell and Montana Jordan cast as the older/younger version of George Jr. Casting Zoe Perry as the younger version of her own mother's character was a stroke of genius. As i said, ALL the casting is just great. Glad it is sticking around.

I have really enjoyed watching Young Sheldon with my kids. Hopefully it can separate itself from TBBT... nothing against the original, just need Sheldon to be more than just a spinoff.

I can't be the only one who thinks it would be awesome to have an entire night of 'young....'
Young Penny... wow that could be interesting, maybe not 'young' as in 9 year old - but a teenage Penny...
a Young Leonard, with as horrible as his mom sounds.. could have some fun!
I'm not sure about a Howard or Raj, because those two play off each other to well, and if they aren't there younger idk... lol
but yeah TBBT is amazing, I am enjoying this spin-off, but would also love to see more spin-offs, in reverse! (as in not after like Joey from Friends, but like this -as their younger selves)

It could have occasional guest cameos of the future Sheldon. But it probably won't although the father character and the young Sheldon character did do a cameo in a episode of the big bang theory. One of the biggest comedy hits ever after all was bbt. So I will be sad to see it go. It like all such series was never as good as the first seven seasons but the rest of them were still pretty good imo. And that's a fine legacy to leave. Plus no scandals from the cast helps out a lot.

It will be weird that this is on air and BBT isn't. Wish they would reconsider keeping BBT around.
