The veteran drama ends after seven seasons.
February 4, 2020
Showtime announced today that Ray Donovan has completed its run and will not return for Season 8. The news comes two weeks after the long-running drama's Season 7 finale on January 19, which now serves as its series ender.
The news was somewhat unexpected given the show's continued solid performance, but at last month's TCA, Gary Levine, the cable network's co-president of Entertainment, commented that he thought it was nearing the end of its run. Many interpreted that as a signal that a final eighth season would be ordered, but obviously that was not the case.
Ray Donovan stars Liev Schreiber as the titular character, who does the dirty work for some of Los Angeles' most-powerful figures. As their go-to guy, he makes the problems of the city's elite celebrities, athletes, and businessmen disappear.

I really hate showtime lately. They keep trashy shows and get rid of this spectacular show. So done!!!

It feels like we got one foot from the finish line here.this show deserves at least a 2 hour series finale. What total bullshit.

It was getting stupid in Season 5. Some of the scenarios Ray had gotten himself into and out of were really far-fetched. I'm honestly surprised Showtime didn't pull the plug back then. BUT, as a service to the fans, I would like them to consider a short finale. At least give us closure.

I agree with all the other comments !! A wrap-up episode or movie is needed for all of us that invested 7 years into this show !! My husband and I watched it faithfully !! Will miss all the characters, especially Ray and Mickey, even tho we didn't care for the move to NYC !!

Shocked! I thought for sure there would be one more season. I too, was totally invested in these characters. Idk if people wrote to showtime as Liev Schreiber suggested after the season, now series finale. Put the word out and write to Gary Levine, VP of original programming at showtime. Maybe we can get some kind of closure for these great characters. Stranger things have happened...

Worst news ever!!!! We love Ray Donovan. It was without a doubt the best show on tv. I can’t believe they cancelled. What is wrong with these execs who cancel popular shows. I am sooo disappointed. Please reconsider. Unbelievably good show down the drain with not a lot of warning. Shame on you Showtime.

I was considering cancelling my movie channel subscriptions with my provider but didn't want to give up Ray Donovan and a couple other shows. This helped me make my decision. I loved this show and would have appreciated a finale! Goodbye Showtime!
