The dramedy will end its run later this month.
April 14, 2020
Reports are out that CBS has cancelled God Friended Me after two seasons. The sad news comes as the dramedy winds down its sophomore run, with planned back-to-back episodes on April 26 now set to act as its series ender.
The hour-long show premiered in 2018, garnering decent viewership that ranked it as one of the top new broadcast shows that season despite mixed reviews. But falling ratings in Season 2 could not justify bringing it back for a third outing. Word is, though, that the writers were given advanced notice of the move, which enabled them to craft a fitting end to the story.
God Friended Me follows New York podcast host Miles Finer, who is an outspoken atheist. When he randomly receives a friend request from God on Facebook, it starts him down the path of becoming an agent of change in the lives and destinies of people around him.

I enjoyed this show for the most part. Basically a new version of ‘Early Edition’. As someone before me said, it became all about trying to figure out the account and characters were being forced into the show.
I would’ve preferred it stick around. But at times it felt like it stalled.

I liked it at first because it was different than other shows, but the focus changed from helping people to finding out who was behind the account, and that never went anywhere. Also, trying to force a relationship between Miles & Cara was annoying. They didn't have any romantic chemistry.

I really liked this show, I worried it was going to be real preachy but it wasn't. I loved that Miles was able to see the good in everyone. And doing a good deed for people, this is something that we should all learn to do. This is the kind of show we need today, not a reality show where people scramble to hook up with every piece of meat they can.

That's just allowing for laziness and complacency. If you think a show is bad say something. Sure don't be mean, but make sure you get your opinion out. If nobody said anything nothing would change. Sure some people like a show but others didn't. Either way I respect That.

Whatever you may think about this show I would still like to give kudos to the show's creators. I read an article that they found out while they were filming the finale that they weren't going to be renewed. They easily could've done a big f*** you and just left it as done, but they wanted to give their fans a proper ending so they they took stock footage and cobbled together a series finale. This is especially impressive because they had to do this in the middle of the Corona virus.
I did like this show, but I thought the second season was not as good as the first.

And there it is again. A good show cancelled, probably to be replaced by just another "reality" show. What is wrong with having a feel good show to help us get through all that is really going on around us. It was not about religion (even with God in the title) and focused on finding the good in all of us. Apparently THAT is too much to ask for. Hollywood has always said they do not set norms they only project what exists in society today. So I guess we'll have a new show about hoarding TP or other essential supplies, overcharging for goods and services that are needed in a crisis, or how to how to go against your government and protest for rights they have taken away from you to protect you from yourself.

I will miss this Sunday night show because it was definitely a feel-good story line. It was not at all preachy like some people indicated.
Maybe people can spend this new-found time not watching this show in learning the difference in there, their, and they're. Would definitely make these posts easier to read but less entertaining. And since these errors are so pervasive in these posts I have to believe some, if not all, of those posts are by the same person(s)!

There are often threads that seem to have a lot of comments from people that never watched the shows, but this thread seems to have more then any other.
If someone doesn't watch the show, they shouldn't just guess what it might be about from the title. This show has the weekly "feel good" storylines about PEOPLE helping people. It also has the arc storyline with an ATHEIST trying to figure out who is using the handle God. He is searching for a human.
This show is not at all like most other shows people have compared it to in this thread. This is more unique then people who don't seem to have watched it might realize. I thought the weekly storylines were very well written. I don't care at all who is using the handle "God." (Capital g as that is what is used on that account.)
Personally, sometimes I find this show enjoyable, but if I haven't watched it in a while I don't find myself looking forward to watching it again - until eventual I do and enjoy it again. I do like most of the actors. Hopefully they will move on with their careers.
