No Season 2 for the Patricia Heaton comedy.
May 6, 2020
Carol's Second Act will not be getting, well, a second act. The sad news comes after CBS released its schedule for the 2020-2021 season and the freshman comedy was absent from the lineup. The show's final episode aired on March 12.
The series premiered as part of the network's fall lineup last September, and got off to a decent start. It was even picked up for a full season, albeit a shortened one, after its first four weeks on the air. And while its ratings remained more or less consistent throughout its run, they were likely not high enough to justify bringing it back for Season 2.
Carol's Second Act stars Patricia Heaton as Carol Kenney, who has had a successful teaching career, raised her children, and been through a divorce. Now at age 50 she is embarking on a unique second act and pursuing her dream of becoming a doctor.

@Greg so how about the show was bad because the writing and production and quality were bad. Nothing to do with what her character was suppose to be. The show was garbage and now it's gone. You can put your soap box away.
Sometimes things are just bad without any politics or prejudice. But I guess that shows your intelligence level.

I had a feeling this show would get cancelled. It was never sold on me and I never got around to seeing it. I may still check it out, it it just seemed like a lost concept to me.

Take it down a notch old fello Greg. Ignore the idiots. Don't get your blood pressure to lava point.

To the last few idiots that called this show stupid, bad this, and bad that shows how low your intelligence really is, or how stuck in 1950 you are. She played a character that put everyone else first including her husband and his career. She became a strong independent woman who did something terrifying as in starting over and becoming someone even greater. But that's where all you idiots want to keep women. The show was great and was funny because you either had to have life experience or an IQ above 86 to understand the jokes. Or just not a masogynist.

I really wanted to like this show, but it was just so stupid. Not surprised it was cancelled.

I loved her last show "The Middle", also "Everybody Loves Raymond"...so this show was kind of a let down after those really good shows. Hope she comes back with something worthy of her talent.

Honestly if you liked this show, then you just don't know what good television is. You would be just as entertained with jingling keys or a laser pointer. The premise, acting, script. etc. etc., was horrible. I like Patricia Heaton and would love to see her in something that would actually fit her talent. She's good this show should never have been made, but CBS is good for putting garbage on TV.

Patricia Heaton needs something better. The whole hospital premise just wasn't the right thing for her. She'll be back.
