ABC announced today that six additional episodes have been ordered for the seventh season of Black-ish, which premiered this past Wednesday. The top-up is no surprise, as the long-running comedy has yet to air a season less than 23 episodes in length.

The extra episodes ordered today bring the show's Season 7 total to 21 episodes, but there is a potential that a few more could still be added as the season progresses.

Known to incorporate storylines related to real-world issues based on current events pertaining to African-Americans, the half-hour series continues to draw critical acclaim - including picking up multiple awards from the NAACP Image Awards. The show is ABC's second-longest running comedy currently on the air, and is nearing the 150-episode milestone.

Black-ish follows patriarch Andre 'Dre' Johnson, who has a beautiful wife, a job he loves, and four kids. They all live in a nice colonial home in the suburbs, but Dre wonders if success has brought too much assimilation to his African-American family.
