No Season 5 for the reimagined comedy.
November 24, 2020
It is being reported that One Day at a Time has been cancelled by Pop after four seasons. The sad news comes five months after the cable network aired a shortened 7-episode fourth season of the award-winning comedy.
The series premiered on Netflix in 2017, airing three seasons before getting the ax in 2019. While Netflix rarely comments on cancellations, a public statement was issued at the time stating, "We've made the very difficult decision not to renew One Day At A Time... in the end simply not enough people watched to justify another season."
But it wasn't long before Pop came to the rescue, announcing that it had picked up a fourth season of the show. But since then the network has shifted its focus away from scripted series, and One Day at a Time was its last remaining original program.
The half-hour sitcom premiered in January 2017 as a remake of the classic Norman Lear series of the same name that aired for nine seasons between 1975 and 1984. Similar to the original, the updated version of One Day at a Time follows a former military veteran and single mom who is doing her best to raise her progressive teenage daughter and socially awkward tween son. The series was positively received by both audiences and critics.
For its part, producer Sony Pictures Television and showrunner Gloria Calderón Kellett again plan to explore options to find the series another new home.

Really like Justina Machado but this show was too corny to watch.

Terribly written remake trying to be "hip" instead it took the same episodes from the 1970s and got different actors, thus why Valerie B refused to appear on this hack version of the show.
Are there no new ideas left?
What's next an Everyone loves Raymond redo called Everyone loves Jerome???

If two different networks cancelled you, its time to STOP looking for a new home. Instead, someone should bring back the original! (He said without googling to see if the original cast is all still alive).

Why remake an original that ran for 9 seasons? Get some new ideas!

I only watched the first couple of episodes, but it looked like a bad educational show, with writing more childish than the writing of shows that are actually meant for kids.

POP is a CBS channel...it's just one of their many little-known affiliated networks. They generally put the horrible US-made shows on POP during primetime.... yes, like this horrible One Day at a Time remake... or they run foreign made shows (Schitt's Creek, Rosehaven) during prime time. I found this series to be largely cliche, predictable, UNfunny, and merely enforcing stereotypes... And Rita Moreno??? Are they gonna dig up Bee Arthur next?
