A sequel to the original hit drama is on the way next season.

CBS announced today that a sequel to the hit procedural drama 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation' has been given an official series order. CSI: Vegas will be part of the network's lineup for the upcoming 2021-2022 season, and some familiar faces will be making a return.
William Petersen and Jorja Fox will be reprising their roles as Gil Grissom and Sara Sidle, back in the city where it all began. They will be joined by a brilliant new team of forensic investigators in the crime lab as they utilize new techniques in order to serve justice in Sin City - all while facing an existential threat that could bring down their operation.
The original 'CSI' premiered over 20 years ago and became one of the most-watched dramas of its time. The show lasted 15 seasons and tallied 335 episodes, earning six Emmy Awards along the way. It spawned three spin-offs, 'CSI: Miami', 'CSI: New York', and 'CSI: Cyber'. Miami and New York found their own success, airing 10 and 9 seasons respectively. Cyber didn't fare as well, lasting only two seasons.

Loved every actor involved with CSI Las Vegas. Looking forward to seeing both old and new but...
If they do a crossover and bring Caruso in - I'm out. He was a cartoon.

Ash: "The first CSI was set in Vegas. So they're just rebooting or rebranding that original show. No other crime ridden cities for them to work with? I can think of more than a few."
They only pick cities the crew wants to hang out in. They will never do a Detroit because it's too fucking cold 9 months out of the year.

I love this show and didn't like the ending. I'm glad it's coming back. I hope more of the original cast return! Fingers crossed it's as good as it was!

Was a great show...we will see if it can be again. However, I don't think that Jorja Fox should return nor does she deserve it after her attitude in the first run. Let's keep rewarding bad acting and bad attitudes Hollywood!!

Gil Grissom is back? I'm in. I really missed him and he was perfect for the role. I would love to see some actors come back, like Sanders, but I would love to see new characters too!

Glad to hear it, loved the original CSI. Steve previously mentioned Caruso. I recently watched an original episode of Hawaii 5-0. Falling off my couch laughing so hard. Never knew that Caruso was mimicking every single mannerism and pose that Jack Lord did back 50 years ago.

CSI:Vegas was never quite the same after Peterson left, though it came back some at the end with Ted Danson at the helm. I could see a movie or special, but another series? What stories haven't been done?
But at least it's CSI:Vegas and not CSI:Miami where it appeared that David Caruso had it written in his contract that he got to pull his gun at least once per episode.

The ONLY CSI I watched was Vegas. Glad to see it coming back.
