The veteran comedy will not return for Season 6.
May 14, 2021
Word is out that ABC has cancelled American Housewife after five seasons. The sad news comes roughly six weeks after the veteran comedy wrapped its run, with its March 31 episode now serving as its series ender.
The half-hour show stars Katy Mixon as an average wife and mother who is bringing up her family in the upper-class town of Westport, Connecticut. It premiered in 2016 and ended up becoming ABC's top-rated new comedy of the season.
The network moved the show to a few different time slots over the years, but it found a home on Wednesday nights since Season 4. Overall it was a fairly consistent performer during its time on the air, and recently surpassed the 100-episode milestone.

They should have just sent AnnaKat away to “boarding school” or something. It’s not the replacement actress’ fault— you just can’t swap out a well loved character like that, and expect the audience to jump on board. I loved the show, but I’m glad they ended it when they did. I think they must have known it was happening, because they did a good job wrapping things up with the last episode. It felt like goodbye.

This show was just not the same with the new Annakat. I lost interest this season, she was not as good as the original

This last season was a disgrace. Ruined the show for me.
