Netflix announced today that a spinoff of Castlevania is in the works. The news comes a month after the original animated series wrapped its four-season run.
2017's Castlevania launched as the streaming giant's first original anime series. Based on the legendary video game franchise, the dark, medieval fantasy chronicles the journey of the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan fighting to save a besieged Eastern European city from extinction at the hand of Dracula and his army of otherworldly beasts.
The currently-untitled spinoff will be set in the same universe during the 1792 French Revolution, and will follow the story of Richter Belmont, Sypha and Trevor's son, and Maria Renard. No premiere date as been set at this time, but a 2022 premiere appears likely.
