The animated series will return for Season 2.
July 7, 2017
It is being reported that Netflix has renewed Castlevania for a second season. Based on the legendary video game franchise, the animated drama released its first season just today - comprised of four episodes coming in at approximately 23 minutes apiece.
The series is a dark, medieval fantasy that chronicles the journey of the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan fighting to save a besieged Eastern European city from extinction at the hand of Dracula and his army of otherworldly beasts. While the show is just hours into its release, early reviews of the R-rated vampire hunter saga are sounding favorable.
While no time frame has been set for when we might see Season 2 of Castlevania, word is that the episode count is being doubled to eight, which should please fans wanting more after the show's short debut outing.

I heard this was all hand drawn which is why there were so few episodes. Also, I think they went with only 4 to see what type of reaction they would get. Well it was a good one. I admittedly have never played the game, nor had I actually even heard of it....but that didn't stop this from being fantastic and visually stunning! Can't wait until next season which I've heard will be 8 episodes.

Season 1 is four episodes, 20 minutes each. It was barely a movie, a short one even.
Regardless, I enjoyed watching it a lot! I only think that they should have made more episodes, 10 at least. Hopefully, this will be the case for the next season.

Of all the video game to movie adaptations possible out there I would not have bet you could make a serial out of Castlevania. I am pleasantly wrong. It has a very serious, relgious tone set during the Inquistion - the R-Rating comes only from graphic injury and swearing. Not the best Anime ive ever seen, but I will certainly give Season 2 a chance...
