The dark comedy has been picked up for a second season.
August 27, 2021
AMC announced today that Kevin Can F**k Himself has been renewed for Season 2. The news comes less than a month after the dark comedy concluded its eight-episode freshman run, which was generally well-received by both audiences and critics.
The series follows Allison McRoberts, a woman filling the role of a prototypical sitcom wife. She's beautiful and embodies a figure who everyone thought they knew growing up. But she's wasted the last 10 years of her life in an awful marriage, and when she's not at home, her perfect veneer fades and she revolts against the life she resents.
Another eight episodes have been ordered for Season 2 of Kevin Can F**k Himself, which is slated to return in 2022.

Less of a comedy than a drama. The "laugh tracks" are part of the catch. Lighting technique is impressive. Interesting concept. Guy plays the part very well. He's supposed to be unbearable. Unique show, which today counts for a lot.

The scenes without the Kevin character on screen were brilliant (both written and executed). I kept watching episodes and hoping Annie Murphy would finally kill the Kevin character so the show could soar. To clarify, Eric Petersen is stuck with a shallow turd of a character and not to blame. I doubt I’ll tune in season 2 unless they re-tool this. This show could be great.

I tried to like this, but I guess I didn't try hard enough.

@Ginger, a laugh track might have a place in a dark comedy if the entire series is a deconstruction of 90s sitcoms with laugh tracks.

They HAD to "renew" it.... the reality is the "season" was shot as 16 episodes.. they merely aired 8, left it on a cliffhanger, answered NOTHING, and called that "season 1". Basically, they are stretching the dollar from the show.. same was AMC does with most of it's shows. I dislike how they just pad in a 6 month wait to see how the first storyline wraps up. Network TV just doesn't "get it" any more.. similar to the music industry not getting it in the 80s.... It'll really only be "renewed" if there's a season 3. (I like the show... dislike the delivery)

Dark comedy is my guilty pleasure. A laugh track has no point in a dark comedy..

I just could not get into this show. I may go back and watch because it's the type of humor I usually like.

Glad to hear it. A really smart show written by some of my favorite writers in the business.
