ABC's new comedy has its freshman run topped up.
October 26, 2021
ABC announced today that The Wonder Years has been picked up for a full season. The order adds nine episodes to the comedy's first season, bringing its total to 22. Since its September premiere, the show has garnered solid viewership that sees it tied with 'The Conners' as the network's top comedy of the season among adults 18-49.
Inspired by the 1988 series of the same name, The Wonder Years is a coming-of-age story that takes a look back in time at a Black middle-class family in 1960s Montgomery, Alabama, from the point of view of an imaginative 12-year-old named Dean. Narrated by his grown-up self with the wisdom of his adult years, Dean reflects on some of the best years of his life with his family during a turbulent time.

Buddy, did you just completely ignore the information on why it got renewed?
“the show has garnered solid viewership that sees it tied with 'The Conners' as the network's top comedy of the season among adults 18-49.” Should a show with solid ratings be cancelled just to appease you?
Do you think that shows with black peoples never get cancelled? What the fuck are you talking about? Is that why Jamie Foxx’s Netflix show was cancelled? And is that why ABC (the same network as The Wonder Years) cancelled “For Life” earlier this year? Or is tht why HBO cancelled Lovecraft Country?
If you don’t even watch this show, I don’t get why you’d feel so compelled to complain tht it’s renewal was only motivated by how “they’d all yell racism” while providing zero evidence to support nothing you’ve said. You could just…not worry about the show existing, instead of complaining about “them.”
I have not and won't watch. The original one was lame enough.
