Word is out that Batwoman has been cancelled by The CW after three seasons. Showrunner Caroline Dries took to Twitter with the news, which comes just under two months after the drama wrapped its most-recent season, which at 13 episodes was the lowest count of its run. The show did manage to hit the 50-episode mark in its penultimate episode.
Set in the same universe as The CW's other superhero shows, Batwoman takes place years after Batman mysteriously disappeared from Gotham, leaving the city to fall into despair. Original star Ruby Rose departed the series after Season 1, with Javicia Leslie taking over as the new lead, playing an undisciplined fighter who becomes the new Batwoman after find the batsuit in the wreckage of a plane crash.
Just got the sad news that #Batwoman will not be seeing an S4. I am bummed, but full of gratitude. What an honor to make 51 episodes. So many inspiring, brilliant people contributed to this series. Thank you producers, cast and crew. Thank you, fans! We love you. ❤️
