The new police drama is off to a solid start.
October 19, 2022
CBS announced today that East New York has been given a full season pickup. The network has ordered an additional batch of episodes to extend the drama's freshman run, though the exact number of episodes is not known.
The hour-long procedural premiered earlier this month and is off to a solid start. Its first three episodes have averaged over 7 million viewers, making it Sunday's most-watched new show of the 2022-2023 season, and the #2 most-watched new show overall.
East New York follows Regina Haywood, the newly promoted deputy inspector of East New York, a working-class neighborhood of Brooklyn. She leads a diverse group of officers and detectives, some of whom are reluctant to utilize her creative methods of law enforcement during the midst of social upheaval and the early seeds of gentrification.

This is bs that East New York wasn't picked up. Wasn't given a chance when half the time it ran later than it's time slot because of football or golf. Hope other networks are listening!!

Watched 3 episodes. Decent if not great cop show. Will continue to watch. P.S. John. Your guess on what the show is about is not what the show is about. The cops are not refusing her orders or disrespecting the boss. One of the detectives is uneasy about the new boss lady, but it has nothing to do with race or gender. Sometimes people are hesitant to new ideas, or they do not believe that change can be made.

It is a great show, reminds me of the older cop shows but with a modern social issues.

Not watched it but going by the description my guess is that its a black woman gets a promotion that some white cops feel she shouldnt have gotten so they refuse to implement her policies as protest thus proving that white people are racist like Hollywood would have us think.
