The crime drama will not return for Season 4.
October 27, 2022
It is being reported that Showtime has cancelled City on a Hill after three seasons. The news arrives a month after the crime drama wrapped its now-final run on the cable network, though word is that the decision had been made for some time.
Earlier today it was also announced that star Aldis Hodge already has a new series lined up; he will play the title role in the upcoming 'Alex Cross' thriller from Amazon Studios.
Set in the early 1990s, City on a Hill follows an unlikely alliance that forms between a Boston assistant district attorney, played by Hodge, and a corrupt yet respected FBI agent, played by Kevin Bacon. Together, they take on a family of armored car robbers from Charlestown in a case that grows to involve, and even subvert, the entire criminal justice system of Boston.

Terrible news. Great storyines, acting and intelligent dialogue. Probably over the head of too many people. This is very disappointing.

Idiots. I'm sure it will be replaced with a vehicle for the latest flash in the pan star.

Well this sucks. Great show. Wish someone else would pick it up, and keep it going but I’m sure that’s not going to happen.

I have no reason to keep showtime. American Gigilo was just awful. The Chi is ok still, but has lost it's edge. City on a Hill was excellent. the third season might be the best of the three. This is Ray Donovan all over again. I have cancelled my Showtime.

What a great disappointment. This was a really good show that my wife and I looked forward to every week. Kevin Bacon knocked it out of the park every week. There's so much junk on TV, it's sad to see this quality show go. Simply can't believe it.

Why? Too much viewership? Good writing? Intetesting story? What will replace it, some remake we’ve already see? Or better yet, a reality show. Shame on you Showtime. Glad I cancelled you!

Typical, cancel a great show, probably have to make room for more reality crap.

Everything about this show was great. Bacon and Hennessy were Emmy material. Hopefully another station will pick it up.
