The fantasy drama scores another early pickup.
October 29, 2022
Netflix announced today that The Witcher has been renewed for a fourth season. The pickup is another early one for the fantasy drama, which is not slated to return for Season 3 until the summer of 2023.
Best known for the popular series of video games, The Witcher originated as a series of novels by Andrzej Sapkowski. The TV show follows a monster hunter by the name of Geralt of Rivia, who is struggling to find his place in a world where people are often more wicked than beasts. When destiny unites him with a powerful sorceress and a young princess, the three must work to navigate the volatile Continent together.
While Season 4 of The Witcher is still quite some time away, we found out today that Liam Hemsworth will be replacing Henry Cavill as Geralt after three seasons.
"As a Witcher fan I'm over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia," said Hemsworth in a statement. "Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I'm honoured that he's handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf's blades for the next chapter of his adventure. Henry, I've been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I'm truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world."

It won't be the same with a different actor as Geralt. Howeve, if they had done the smart thing and brought in Liam as a DIFFERENT witcher, changed the point of view, since they do not want the source material, that mighr have made it better, more acceptable.

Show was good at first, for the most part. The race swapping was not needed. And s3 is absolute woke garbage. No wonder Henry left this sinking ship. He is actually super fan of the games and books, and they basically threw those out the window with s3.
He didn't leave because of schedule issues or to play Superman. He left because of this forced woke agenda and because they don't even care about the source material.

Honestly, I do not even remember what happened in Season 2. The timelines are a bit of a mess between the main show and its various spin-offs. I was mostly watching it because Henry Cavill and the female teenage lead (i don't remember her name) are interesting to watch. Other than that, the show is not doing a good job explaining the world of The Witcher to the likes of me, who is a non-gamer.

Well I won't be watching - no offense Liam.
This was because the writers and show-runners didn't like the source material and decided they would not only move away from that, but only focus on the female characters and cut down on having a white-male lead as much as possible.
Cavill did not like the direction of the show and left, they would have worked around his Superman role, but if you go back and look at interviews, he was subtle but warned everyone.
So, stick a fork in it, it's done.

This is sad AF to hear. Especially after how hard Henry worked to get the Witcher created in the first place.
Season 3 = Official Witcher ending!

Clavil made the geralt character iconic imo. He was that good at it. Hemsworth will do his best though. So it is not a total loss.. but clavil was perfect in that role.

They should reconsider the recasting and try to work around Cavill's schedule to get season 4 done. Liam Hemsworth isn't believable for this role. Even Chris Hemsworth who I really like, I wouldn't accept in this role. Get Cavill back and work around his DC schedule.
I for one was happy to hear he is back as Superman. But i want him as Geralt too!
This is...

Going to be trash. Might as well cancel it right away.
When I saw Henry Cavill as Geralt, first thing I thought was "This is how I would see a real life Geralt".
Chris Hemsworth even if he does a decent job at it, will always be miles behind Henry Cavill.
How tho?

How are they going to explain Geralt being younger and baby faced? Witchers age slowly not backwards. And after hearing (rumors so who knows?) that the producers and what not want to take the show in their own direction and they openly mock the books, I will not be watching beyond season 3 and that's IF I make through season 3.
