No Season 2 for the mystery drama.
January 2, 2023
Word is out that Netflix has cancelled 1899 after just one season. Cast member Lucas Lynggaard Tonnesen, as well as the show's creators, took to social media to express their sadness over the move, which makes 1899 the first cancelled series of 2023.
The show follows a group of European passengers on an immigrant ship, traveling from London to the new continent, who get caught in a mysterious riddle when they come across a second vessel adrift on the open sea. Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger, as the creators had envisioned a three-season run for the show, which unfortunately has been cut short.

Cases like this are why I'm really starting to get irked when a show ends their season on a cliffhanger before they know for certain that they've been renewed. You're never guaranteed to get another season (or a sequel, or other continuations), so tie up all of your lingering plot threads while you can, otherwise if your show ends up never getting one it'll leave a bad taste in the audience's mouth.
We all know the saying "live like there's no tomorrow"; showrunners should learn the saying "produce like there's no next season".

Right, the reason for cancelations is the people that don't watch right away fearing cancellations. Cancel these problem people who screw it up for everybody! They could be watching reality cooking shows for all we know! Don't blame Netflix - it's You People.

Chris you looser language idiot: Spanish is spoken in Brazil even though they mostly speak Portuguese, a similar laguage.

Netflix's cancelling spree of good series is really getting annoying. I don't think I'll be sticking around there for long anymore. This happens all the time. The way they do it is perfect for loosing customers for good.

@hrdwrk You sir are a moron! That’s because the national language of Brazil is Portuguese not Spanish!
@George You do realize that just makes you part of the problem right?

Oh and to say. War of the worlds was a good show even if some parts were in french and japanese. It had action and stuff. Not just a plot that required you to know what the people were saying
Yeah not a great show to write home about but war of the worlds was sort of cool and got cancelled too. Networks just do not understand that the regular person does not know every language in the world. There are over 100 different japanese dialects, spanish has like 1000. If I were to go to mexico I could say you have very pretty wife but if I say the exact same thing in like brazil. I would be saying his wife is a pig, Yea blown up but words change
