Netflix has picked up Outer Banks for a fourth season. The early renewal, which comes ahead of next week's Season 3 premiere, was announced today at the Poguelandia Fan Event in Huntington Beach, California.

Set in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, the series follows a close group of local teenage friends known as the Pogues. After a hurricane shuts off the power during the summer season, it sparks numerous illicit events in its wake. There is a search for group leader's missing father, a high-stakes treasure hunt for gold, forbidden relationships, and an escalating conflict between the Pogues and their rivals that results in life-changing decisions.

Season 3, which premieres this Thursday, picks up with the Pogues washed ashore on a desert island that seems like the perfect new home. Deemed 'Poguelandia,' the island's new residents spend their days enjoying the carefree lifestyle of their temporary dwelling. But it doesn't last long, as John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope, JJ, and Cleo find themselves once again caught up in a race for the treasure - broke, far from home, and against the world.

Season 4 of Outer Banks will likely target a 2024 return.
