'Seven Kings Must Die' hits the streamer this April.
February 19, 2023
Netflix has penciled in a premiere date for the feature film continuation of The Last Kingdom. Titled 'Seven Kings Must Die,' the movie will premiere on the streaming service on April 14 and serve as a proper conclusion to the Last Kingdom saga.
Adapted from Bernard Cornwell's book series 'The Saxon Stories,' The Last Kingdom debuted in 2015 on BBC Two in the UK, where it aired two seasons before moving to Netflix through Season 5, which concluded in March 2022.
The show is a retelling of the history of King Alfred the Great and his desire to unite several kingdoms into what is now known as England. Young warrior Uhtred is on a mission to reclaim his birthright. Kidnapped by Norsemen and raised as one of their own, he is forced to choose between his ancestral kingdom and the people of his upbringing.

If you liked the TV series, you'll love reading the books about the "Last Kingdom". Cornwell is an excellent writer of historical fiction and there's another TV series - "Sharpe", starring Sean Bean - that was developed from Cornwell's book series of the same name.

Great show. It was very well done. Even if they depicted alfred as not a great warrior in it. In reality he lead his troops to victory. Although a utred type did help. Still a fantastoc show and the movie should be great. .
